Weekend's other games

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Free spending Everton close the gap to 1 point

Their Christmas fixtures - Sunderland (h), free falling Southampton (h), followed by a trip to Stoke

Free spending indeed, a 30million striker in today's market, a £29 million buyout clause prospect and a freebie from Shitty on 100k plus per week wages. Free spending indeed.

Be interesting to see how Barkley gets on in his second season with the England's great hope tag.

Every result was the opposite of what we wanted. Let's hope tomorrow doesn't follow suit.

Well I have stayed away from footie this weekend as I have had lots to do including buying the dear wife a Christmas present.

So today I got the whole sum of one pair of slippers :?

Truth is I want to get her tons of stuff but she is going in for an operation on the 30th of this month and as much as I am a flippant individual and could say this is selfish cos it ruins my new year celebration arrangements I could only think of something for the hospital.

The other truth is I'm scared shitless, I moan about her and sometimes argue with her and at the worst wish I was on my own, but she is my only love, we met on a blind date 24 years ago when I was a mere sprogget, she is the only girl I ever loved and I can't imagine being without her.

To bring a bit of perspective to this football lark as I am an avid gooner myself, my wife's auntie died last Monday, her father is on his last legs in his mid sixties (a makem) so we are waiting for the dreaded call from 300 miles up the road and the wife herself has this operation coming up and she doesn't let it interupt mine or our sons Christmas, she is her usual bubbly beautiful self.

What a lady.

Sorry lads, had a drink or two, I shall be watching arsenal tomorrow and going mental but if we lose I won't be getting as down as I would normally.

Merry Christmas from me the missus and my boy :barscarf:

Cheers dude, I feel I shouldn't have posted it on here but there you have it, tbh I have buried it inside for a while now but today while shopping it hit home.

She's gonna be great and before you know it we will be having a holiday on some beautiful beach drinking cocktails 8)

Don't apologise... I'm 22 years married to someone who could have walked away or blamed me for a two year nightmare we endured when i was dismissed from my job..but instead she became stronger when i became weaker...she never referred to it as happening to me, it was always what happened to us (as a couple) ..amazing person , we like all have our rows etc but where would we be without them..I shudder to think..hope your lady has a quick recovery.. Merry Christmas to you all.

Sometimes being a gooner is a release from the more important things in our life.

It isn't remotely selfish to want 90mins of escapism. Whatever the result, I wish you and your other half all the best this christmas.

Just want to echo the sentiments of others on here and wish you & the wife good luck Leftfoot. Sometimes it does take something really serious to happen in our own lives in order for us to put a bit of perspective on worrying about all the things going on at Arsenal.

Lefty, I am just reading this for the first time so am a bit late posting but can I wish both of you my thoughts and prayers at this tough time - there is never a good time to go through stuff like this but for some reason it always seems worse over the xmas and new year period but hopefully a new year will bring a change of luck for you both.
