I find it amazing he would want to piss away his prime years at that club. If he truly wanted to leave in the summer why didn't he hand in a transfer request? More importantly why didn't Wenger and Co. make them an offer they couldn't refuse instead of that +£1 embarrassment.
They are 7pts behind us......do you honestly believe that they are out of the race ? I still believe that they will finish above us and the scousers will finish 5th or 6th at best[/quote
Agree. They're out of the title race but more than capable of still finishing 3rd.
On sports Saturday today on sky, they were previewing our game v the chavs and stelling said that they aint playing well and being just 2pts off top is not too shabby - one of the other panellists (cud have been merse) said that they might be just 2pts off top spot but that they are also just 2pts from 5th spot and that is exactly how tight this division is. In previous seasons manure would be a country mile away from top 4 after those results but the reality is that every team is ballsing up so for me there are 8 maybe 9 teams def in the shake up for top 4 football

I don't see them pulling it back with how tight it is between us, chelsea, city and the dippers. Unless Suarez goes off the boil which I doubt will happen I think they will get top 4.

They are and they will
This season's final places
1. Citeh
2. Chavski
3. United
4. Arsenal
5. Liverpool
6. Everton
7. Spuds
Sorry steve but I have always stated my belief that they will finish above us - this is the first mini wobble we have had this season so far and if the chavs beat us tomorrow night then that wobble will see us drop to 4th Personally I just don't see us going on an almost flawless run from here to the end of the season and it would be what is needed cos, if the impressive run we have been on until recently hasn't put enough distance between us and the other teams, then we will need to be nearly perfect to hold them off when their performances will without doubt improve. We all refer to the lift signing ozil gave our club and I can see the chavs and manure getting a similar lift when they splash the cash next month

Its a 9 month season which sadly for some means we have to play all the big teams twice. As you point out, when others are splashing the cash in January, we will not be because.....guess what.....our fixtures in January are relatively kind and I expect some form of mini revival which will see us within striking distance of the top of the table.
All that will do is make Lord Wenger even more stubborn and then come February he'll seemingly wake up surprised by the fact that within Feb & March we play Liverpool, United, Bayern twice, Spurs, Chelsea and City
Never mind though our last few league games involve West Ham (h), Hull (a), Newcastle (h), West Brom (h) and Norwich (a) - so when the pressure of winning anything has been removed by the end of March, and we pick up 15 points from the last 5 games to finish 4th, he'll hail our remarkable consistency and spirit
"Agree. They're out of the title race but more than capable of still finishing 3rd."
How can they be out of the title race if you think they'll finish above us?
Theoretically we can still be top of the league tomorrow morning (I don't think we will be though).
If that is the case then in order to finish above us they would need to be right in the title race.
I'm not writing off anyones chances, including ours. In my humble opinion the league will finish:-

There's no way we'll finish 2nd and them 1st. But I think we will start slipping away from the leaders and United will have a late-season resurgence, allowing them to climb above us into 3rd without ever being in the title race. For the record I think City will start to pull away too.
I think the arabs will win it by a country mile.
They've destroyed the mancs, the scum and us this season. They're into their stride now and will pull away. I don't expect them to lose hardly any between now and the end of the season.
The Chavs are going to do what they do best. They'll dig in, be thoroughly boring to watch and grind out a series of narrow victories (much like we did in the 1980's). I'd like a £1 for each game this season where they get our hopes up by being held to a 0-0 until the 87th minute when they manage to sneak a late winner. It's been a trademark of theirs over the last few years.
The Mancs will get going now. With RVP out for a while Rooney will take the opportunity to get his place back in the side and will hit a patch of form. They're always stronger in the second half of the season.
Sadly I do not see the victims falling away. Suarez is a one man winning machine and seems unstoppable this year (gutted that we didn't get him). I don't think it matters how shite the rest of that team is, he'll occupy the whole of the oppositions defence and the chances will be there for the taking.
The team I'm most worried about this year (for stealing 4th spot) is Everton. They have galvanised under Martinez and are a good solid unit. I think they'll be a real threat this year. It shows what a good manager he is given a better standard of player to work with. Considering Moyes took what was arguably their best player to manure they have seem to have improved as a unit.
Anyway, back to the thread topic, I don't blame any player for maximising their income in what can be a very short career. You only need Ryan Shawcross to turn up and it can be all over! I don't get too excited over player loyalty either. Even the great TH14 speaks about "When I worked for Arsenal". They see their jobs in much the same way as we see ours. Provided they keep their mouths shut, don't come up with some bullshit about why they leaving and don't dis the club once they've gone I have no issue with anyone.
There's loads of money on offer out there for players and all the victims have done by signing Suarez up to a new contract is ensure they get some of it when he leaves in June.
