Connection problems- Hostgator

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Can I suggest that anyone thinking of starting a website of their own, don't look at gator.com cos reliability seems to be an issue  :banghead:

What makes you say that he utters as he attempts to post this comment for the 5th time  :banghead:

There are not that many logged on and even straight after the game, it was mostly guests.

If that's what's causing it, is there anyway we can just make none members log in so you don't get trolls from other clubs gumming up the works. I don't mean block them completely but make them sign up before they can view terraces/cannon posts. It's what the Everton site(Grand old team) does.

If you don't sign in and post within a couple of visits, it locks you out completely....it's worth a try as I'm with Augie, this site is the only thing that keeps you sane after a crap defeat

The hosting provider here is plain rubbish. 38 sessions should not bring a server to a crawl, unless it is hosted by some bloke in his bedroom. If I were you, I would find another provider. I see that this one is US based - there are plenty of other that would be around the same cost and better.

It only crashes when gator.com is a little bit jaded or playing with its handbrake on. The Gooner has looked for other servers but they trust in the mental strength and super quality of the servers they have, and there's not any servers out there that are better than the servers we already have.

Anyone who criticises it obviously hasn't worked 30 years in IT.

Ps - we're putting the server prices up 6% next year...for the same service

Thank you

It's the fact the bastard looks so pleased with himself that makes it worse. He could at least look a little bit apologetic. But no, there he is with his fists balled up on his hips as if to say "that's right, I've just cracked one off in your Weetabix, how'd ya like them apples?"

To be fair, Hostgator was one of the top servers 8-9 years ago and can be again imo - I believe it's regularly one of the top 4 servers in fact. We just have to be patient and see if the management behind it can sign a top code writer or DOS expert in the summer.
Don't get me wrong, i'm no HKB, but we have to be fair and give it it a chance guys.

Come on you Gators.

Peace.
