New contracts: BFG, Rosicky, Ramsey, Cazorla, Zelalem

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Probably comes from when the 8-2 defeat up at Man U when he left the wall before one of their goals went in and was lining up for the kick off.... hated the *word censored* ever since...

2 things

1) why are we not fighting to keep hold of Sagna?
2) why does Sagna want to leave?

those 2 questions sum up the general malaise around AFC right now

I agree stability is crucial to the club but why are we continuing to reward when we are not successful? How about giving the young players coming through the opportunity like we did in the '80's and early '90's. We have lost good young players who never really had an opportunity to learn and improve, because we kept players who we shouldn't have done.
Some deals are shocking (Dj, Diaby etc). Sagna has been our RB of the 21st century IMO. Ros is obviously questionable but I don't think anything is shocking.

I don't think it's hatred. More exasperation.

The way Arsene treated Pires in particular was fucking criminal. :x :censored: No more than a 1 year deal because he was over 30? And then almost in the next breath he signed the Mid Op Transexual from Manure on a 2 year deal when the useless bastard was about 39.5 years old. :x :x :x

Pleased BFG is extending contract.
I'm not one too bothered if sagna stays or not. He was awful against liverpool and city and culpable for 2 of their goals by his poor positioning. For me he gets caught out of position too often, plus he's getting to the age were he will naturally lose a yard of pace and with the way we play it leaves him vunerable. His last great game for us was at home against the spuds last season. Moving him to CB may be a better move for us if he stays. There are better RB's than him. Richards, Coleman, Johnson.
I'm merging this with the other "new contracts" thread because they will both contain basically the same points. And some whiney shite from augie. Basically.

1.Because Wenger is a twat.He would rather keep injury prone Rosicky

2.To win trophies. How many team mates has he seen leave go on to win medals

I'm not for a minute saying Sagna is the best RB around but our defence is settled and I just don't see it as worth the risk to change that.

And as I've said re Rosicky tbh it doesn't matter what's happened in the past beyond how much it continues to be a factor. Whether he was crocked or world class in 2007 doesn't really make a difference to whether he is worth a place in the squad now.

No surprise with Rosicky. He's as effective as anything we've had/got in midfield but that's part of our problem.

Until we cut out all of the infected parts at the club and change direction, players like rosicky will be around and we'll continue to falter in our search for trophies and hovver where we are.

No need to get angry though. Just get your chequebook out and send some more money to Arsenal - it'll make you feel better.

Anybody else wondering if sagna will be wenker's first signing at psg ? :rubchin: I cant shake this feeling that, IF wenker leaves, sagna will be playing under him next season in paris and of course that will lead to questions about integrity etc

Re rosicky, I have to say that I am one of those that believes that we should have cut him loose - he is doing well of late and maybe should be a starter even but the reality is that his age should have been the defining factor here. I am not one of those that cite him as one of the reasons why we haven't won trophies but he certainly is one of the symptoms behind it. The reality is that right now we have ozil, cazorla and rosicky that all fill the same position (except in wenkerworld where they could be put in any position  ) and he should be the one to lose out given his age and injury record. Again I will come back to my argument that the tactical system is not working so it is high time that we dispensed with this notion of playing lightweight floating playmakers and recruited more physical players to replace the likes of rosicky.

Delighted, as the original member of the BFG fanclub (  ), that we have signed the big guy on for a few more years :barscarf: :barscarf:

What we need in midfield is a Vieira Petit YaYa type player not another midget in midfied who goes missing in the big games
