Swansea match thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

what for? :?

gets on my nerves people still pine for more of this shit CL bollocks, I'd take it above the thursday cup but we are a joke in europe anyway, it frustrates how modern football is built around finishing fourth and not winning cups. there are only two matches until now and the end of the season IMO and thats the FA Cup games coming up. Maybe it'll be one and thus season over but lets hope we don't have to cross that bridge

Spot on, why do we need to finish in top bore, champions league football?, a march through the borefest that is the group stages before being dicked by the first decent side we meet in the knockout stages, for the money? I don't follow AFC so that I can get a hard on from looking at their balance sheet, so that we can buy super quality players? Don't make laugh, so we can attract top players? I'm still laughing. A top four finish will just nourish the cancer that has riddled our club, a acceptance of mediocrity, top four qualification has killed the clubs desire for trophies and its slowly killing my interest in AFC....ah we'll I can always go and support those cants down the lane.

How do you explain Liverpool challenging for the title, and having the best strike partnership in the league, and they didn't qualify for any European competition last season? If finishing outside the top 4 means we get a manager who doesn't think qualifying for a competition is success then im all for it.

We don't need top 4. Arsenal should be in the top 4 every season, European football should be guaranteed before the season has begun. What about putting a challange year in year out for the championship

We were on the same points as Liverpool before the chelski game, so how is it they are challenging for the title and were not? :?

Because they are hammering teams and we are getting hammered - simple enough for you?

They're 3 points ahead and they are hammering teams without playing particularly well. Their next 3 games are against Sunderland, Spurs and West Ham (all playing shite) and they'll likely win all 3. They then play Chelsea and Citeh at home, games they are more than capable of winning at the moment. When they win their game in hand on Weds they'll be 1 point behind Chelsea with a better goal difference and them still to play at home.

Aside from the points gap opening up and our comparatively terrible goal difference, we are playing poorly and after Swansea face Man City and then Everton away - points gap is going to have opened up even further after those games.

At times you can be reasonable but other times you just retreat back into your crazy cave and spout out the same tired line about sugar-daddy clubs and come up with other nonsense to try and back it up.

With all due respect, why do we need top 4??? To play in a cash cow of a tournament or to actually compete for it ?. We seem to be more interested ,as a club, in the former not the latter. Yeah three seasons in a row we have gone out with a glorious failure and we apparently can take pride in the defeat , but that is not good enough. We as the biggest club in Europe's biggest City must compete for Europe's top prize or alternatively not bother with it.
Swansea to score two early goals, we will pull back one and that is how it will finish.

I probably put it wrong when I said we need, I just hate the thought of the scum finishing in 4th, that's all they're playing for.
If Everton were to finish 4th, would be easier to accept.

Easy win, by a couple of goals :barscarf:
