just to get any one of those names in charge leading us into a new season with the Arsenal fanbase finally reunited would be fantastic!

Don't want to sound negative but if (big if) Simone does win La Liga with AM, then I'm going to guess that he'd at least want to stay one more season and try and defend it.gp543 wrote:For argument's sake, he goes at the end of the season. Who would your replacement candidates be? Ignoring, for the moment, that Kroenke/Gazidis have never had to hire a manager before and confidence is low that they'll do a good job of it. I've listed a few below to kick it off.
Diego Simeone, 43, Argentine, Current manager of Atletico Madrid:
One of the main attractions of hiring Simeone would be the possible players he could bring with him, namely Diego Costa. Is Costa that loyal to Simeone? I doubt it, as he's not even loyal to his home nation. He's won the Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and Copa del Rey with Atletico and currently has them in pole position to win La Liga.
Jurgen Klopp, 46, German, Current manager of Borussia Dortmund:
This case is pretty well known. Won the Bundeslisa twice in a row, got to the CL final in 2013. However, he's extended his contract until June 2018, Dortmund sell most of their best players, and his team are currently 25 off the pace in a non-competitive Bundesliga. He's also a bit of a mentalist, but in a good way.
Frank de Boer, 43, Dutch, Current manager of Ajax:
Dennis would hopefully come with him. He's won 3 league titles but he's also an Ajax legend and never done it in a major league.
Jorge Jesus, 59, Portuguese, Current manager of Benfica:
He's won 3 league cups in Portugal and as well as a league title, made the Europa League final and his squad are 7 points clear at the top presently.
Other than that I think Klopp is a good choice, although I wonder if he does become available will United drop Moyes and go for him? De Boer would be good, I'd imagine the football would be great to watch, not sure about Jesus though, just because it's quite easy to win the Liga Sagres and the Europa League is meh.
Klopp > Simone > De Boer IMO
P.S It'd be great if this thread didn't descend into more anti-Wenger.

I'm afraid that just like Depor and Valencia previously his team would be stripped clean of talent quicker than vultures strip a corpse. Win it, move on, preserve reputation.Mistical92 wrote:Don't want to sound negative but if (big if) Simone does win La Liga with AM, then I'm going to guess that he'd at least want to stay one more season and try and defend it.

I am going to come across as a Wengerite but getting rid off the man alone wont restore the club to greatness. The whole staff needs a turnover.

It would be a fucking start though.spendsum4uckingmoney wrote:I am going to come across as a Wengerite but getting rid off the man alone wont restore the club to greatness. The whole staff needs a turnover.
Whereas if we keep him we'll be doing this for year after year bemoaning the same end of season collapse until we die of old age.

Would you like to expand? You're obviously in favour of him staying but can you say why he should be given more time?JVCRules wrote:It could be a risk in turning into Man United Mark 2, leave him alone!!!!

tbh i don't see that happening. the first trouble we get into, the JCL's like the plastic mancs will be all over us.Gunner Rob wrote:just to get any one of those names in charge leading us into a new season with the Arsenal fanbase finally reunited would be fantastic!
sometimes i almost wish for five years in the wilderness so we can have our club back first. a half empty ground does wonders for ticket prices including kids tickets

Re: A Post-Wenger World
Klopp would be hard to look beyond if he was available - he must be pretty bored of Bayern lording it over them now and we'd probably pay him double (at least) what he's earning at the moment with the chance to live in London and manage in the PL. This summer would be the perfect time as can't see Real, Bayern, Chelsea or City needing a manager, United won't sack Moyes for at least another year and if Martino does go at Barca they will probably look to appoint from within.
Simeone I've got some trepidation about, despite his impressive work at Atletico. I am always reticent about promotion lower managers but personally I would be very happy to give Martinez a chance. Very positive, very progressive.

Maybe, but only if we pick some second rate dross like we do when it comes to transfers.JVCRules wrote:It could be a risk in turning into Man United Mark 2, leave him alone!!!!
