Yep hopefully they'll be playing for Arsenal this year and not our opponents like Higuain thoughscotgooner wrote:If this was a chance to see all of our new wonderful signings (as if) in the flesh I would have an interest and probably go to a game or 2 but as it never is I struggle to give a fuck!

What about the unveiling of the FA Cup 2014 banner going up at the Emirates ?scotgooner wrote:If this was a chance to see all of our new wonderful signings (as if) in the flesh I would have an interest and probably go to a game or 2 but as it never is I struggle to give a fuck!
Who wouldn't pay good money to see that ?

Anyone know if we are expected to announce any more friendlies?
Seems a short calendar with only New York, Emirates Cup and Community Shield. Was hoping for a European away trip somewhere in the sunshine.

I've never understood the hatred for this thing. I can understand lack of interest but some people carry on about it like we are murdering children!
Personally I've never been to one but I'd imagine it would be nice to sit there (especially if it's sunny) and have a few beers with your mates watching Arsenal and for a change your heart isn't in your mouth and you aren't stressed out of your mind!
No one has to go to it, it is still a free world we live in.

Exactly, an ideal opportunity to take the kids, sit in a relaxed atmosphere, and buy shit loads of Arsenal 2014 FA Cup Winners merchandise, what more do people want for gods sake ?DB10GOONER wrote:I've never understood the hatred for this thing. My Sarcasm Radar is on the blink a bit in the light of our recent FA Cup triumph, but I'm getting a twitch like a Toastedcheesesandwich-faced bag of shit hanging out of a Land Rover window after a journalist has just said the words "vacant manager's job".

it is because it is just a money making exercise for the club - pre season friendlies dressed up in the guise of a cup compettion to reflect the new brand conscious way the club has moved to since the move to the Emirates.DB10GOONER wrote:I've never understood the hatred for this thing.
maybe if people boycotted events like this then the club might think twice about raising ticket prices by 3% this season. but while the gullible keep spending money...

None of that in red will ever happen.Gunner Rob wrote:it is because it is just a money making exercise for the club - pre season friendlies dressed up in the guise of a cup compettion to reflect the new brand conscious way the club has moved to since the move to the Emirates.DB10GOONER wrote:I've never understood the hatred for this thing.

Point is, you don't have to go.

Must say that 2 matches in Club seats for £35 is pretty reasonable value, wish I had spotted it earlier as am away for the weekend

Going again with the old man.
Decent day out. 25 quid each for two 90 main football matches watching three teams you'd not normally see outside of European competition (or at all in the cases of New York Red Bulls and Boca) ain't bad.

Re: The Emirates Cup 2014
I can't remember the exact line up from last year but isn't this a bit of an improvement on that?
Benfica are a very good side who play good football. Monaco are financially doped up to their eyeballs and therefore have some very good players. Only Valencia are a bit of an also-ran but at least they come from a proper league and tbh I could easily see us losing to them, we lost to the fucking New York Red Bulls after all.
Should be some decent games of football in there.
