Re: Stevie
Maybe he can join Lampard's team in the states and formed a formidable midifield with him.

Re: Stevie
Only Vieira and Keane have been better CM's in the PL era; he was better than his English counterparts Lampard and Scholes (ginger twat couldn't even tackle ). Gerrard's all round ability and engine when he was in his prime puts him above those two.
He was phenomenal in his pomp and the catalyst for the greatest comeback in football history.

Re: Stevie
better than Lampard? I dont fucking think so. I hate Chelsea and hated Fatty Frank but he is/was twice the player that diving c*unt Gerrard was.
Re: Stevie
Agreed, Lampard was better than Gerrard. Also Slippy G doesn't hold a candle to the likes of Scholes and Vieira.
In his prime, a strong midfielder with a great engine who could strike a ball from distance. Had a team built around him for more than a decade which made him look better than he really was. Vastly overrated imo. Tactically he's brainless, and his lack of positional sense was always exposed in an England shirt. Even Rafa made light of that when he managed the victims, and decided to play him further forward to hide his flaws as a center midfielder.

Don't agree. Better goal scorer but that's where it ends.Yankee_Gooner_Dandee wrote:better than Lampard? I dont fucking think so. I hate Chelsea and hated Fatty Frank but he is/was twice the player that diving c*unt Gerrard was.
Engine, tackling, versatility, speed, passing and vision is all in Gerrard's favour.
I will say though, Lampard has aged more gracefully in terms of still being effective, but then he was never relied upon as much as Gerrard. It's taken it's toll - his legs are gone.
Re: Stevie
And he's elevated by the fact that he was the best player during a weak period in Liverpool's history. I severely doubt he was any better or more influential than Dalglish, Souness, Keegan, Case, McDermott etc.officepest wrote:A good player who has been elevated above his station due to a chronic lack of decent English players in the late 80s/early 90s.
Move along.
When he was orchestrating that rallying cry after the Man City game, you could tell he was just desperate for it to be remembered as THE defining moment of the title charge (like when Fergie and Brian Kidd were dancing on the pitch after Steve Bruce's "Fergie Time" winner against Sheff Wed; or like Tony Adams with his arms oustretched against Everton). Pity he didn't take his own advice about not letting it slip.

Re: Stevie
Gerrard was up there for a few years and overrated thereafter, to be fair to Lampard he delivered at that sort of level consistently for a decade. Not a dynamic or necessarily fashionable individual but I would have the latter in my team first.
And if they got those two pens at the weekend imagine in Gerrard's last home game - the ref will be pointing to the spot whenever anybody breathes on poor Raheem

Check back and watch that game again - the victims were being destroyed through the middle cos the fat Spanish waiter played stevie me where he wanted to play. At half time rafa brings on the more disciplined hamann into the middle of the park and shaft the cheating scouser out to the wing, and lo and behold they gain a grip on the midfield and go on and win the game.
Hamman was THE catalyst for that comeback and some credit should also go to benitez for having the balls to shunt gerrard out of his favoured position

Re: Stevie
^ To be fair I haven't seen it since it was originally played nigh on a decade ago.
But he did get the ball rolling with the opening goal, got the crowd behind the team and won the penalty. Contributed to two of the three goals.

To this day I still let my victims supporting buddies know that they had to get gerrard out of centre midfield that night because he was costing them the game
