And to think that almost 20 years ago The Arsenal appointed a manager that was only managing some obscure Japanese team and who had been sacked from his previous big club job - back then 95% of the footie fans over this side of Europe had not got a clue who he was, but yet for 10 years he had a god like status as the club amassed a nice little trophy haul. Who would have thought diego simeone would have become such a huge success at ath Madrid having failed at every decent managerial job he had up to that point. My point is that football is littered with stories of managers and players who don't hit the heights elsewhere but suddenly become stars at a different club - I still believe that Martinez is a great manager in the making and I will not write him off after one poor season in the same way that I wont write klopp off either 8)

Btw did anyone watch aguero in the build up to citeeh's first goal last night ? He made a well timed run looking to be slipped through by toure, but when yaya didn't give the pass aguero turned away showing his disgust and took no interest in the rest of the move which ended with silva's goal  Something isn't right at citeeh and I am wondering if the players at getting pissed off at yaya toure's attitude, or are they getting pissed off at their poor form this season :rubchin:

1 poor season Augie?????

He has fought relegation every season of his management barring last season and if he gets Everton relegated (which is quite possible) his career could/should be over in the big leagues

"Jonny Evans is not that sort of person"....I would beg to differ Mr Scholes , think the MOTD coverage is fairly damning for both players.

Well as we all know there is a precedent here, 4 match ban and £30.000 fine, lets wait and see what happens.

He fought relegation every season WITH WIGAN.....WITH WIGAN flash - no money in a rugby league town and that he kept them up for so long when teams with more resources were being relegated, was an outstanding achievement imo.
Does financial resources and quality of players a club has, influence your expectations from a manager at all flash ? Last season you were willing to support wenker despite having a kings ransom as a financial budget, and also having some real top quality players at his disposal - should more not be demanded of him ? Does the fact that Martinez has won as much as le cock has in the last 10 years, count for nothing with you ? I'd guess that Martinez didn't spend as much in his whole time at wigan, as wenker did when he bought ozil

This has got fuck all to do with Wenger for a start.... Other managers have done better with similar sized clubs. We all hate pullis but what he did with Stoke was outstanding, Stoke were team that had been out of the top flight for 20-30 years and he made them a stable premier league club and look at palace last year compared to Holloway and that *word censored* Warnock and he's not the only one that has effects on teams.

So Martinez flirts with relegation for a few years eventually does take them down and fucks off, has a good first season with Everton only to seemingly put them in a similar shit situation too. Maybe he will turn things around but it's not fucking great, is it?

You can use my wrong thoughts that Wenger might have turned things around last season to beat me with every time I post if you want to that's fine augie but you are allowed to have differing opinions and change them if you want to also

FFS this place drives me mental at times :banghead:

Flash I wasn't "beating" you over changing your mind (not this time anyway  ) re wenker, but I was merely stating that ALL managers should be judged on the same factors and resources play a huge factor in that. I was questioning how you could feel that le cock was doing a good job last season when you consider the money and players at his disposal, and then I was suggesting that (everything being relative) Martinez done a fabulous job keeping them in the top flight as long as he did considering how little he had to work with. I absolutely agree with you that this is a horrific season for everton and as a manager he is rightly in the firing line, but I would also be willing to see if this is a freak season for him or if last season was the freak cos I still feel that it is too early to write him off. Again I will point to klopp who got mainz relegated in Germany and resigned a year later having failed to get them promoted again, but that hasn't stopped him being an outstanding manager of Dortmund for the last 7 years 8)

I would also like to make two comments re pubis - yes he did a good job stabilising them in the premier league, but at this stage would you think that it appears that hughes has taken them up a level ? Second, and more importantly, how many trophies has pubis won ? We all talk about the importance of actual (not virtual) trophies and the fact is that the c.unt hasn't come near to winning one whilst Martinez has won an fa cup and actually developed footballers that are capable of playing for bigger clubs. All pubis has ever done is build teams full of cloggers from bygone era's whose job is to bully better players out of the game - fair enough it has kept them in the division so it served his purpose, but it also suggests a man incapable of actual coaching

What did Vieira get slapped with? Or is it what you state above, I can't remember?

Slapped wrists and 'future conduct' warnings I bet.

I broadly agree with you, Flash, but let's not forget; Stoke spent a fucking fortune in their effort to stay up.
