Munich Away: travel/hotels

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Stayed at the Eurostars and The Kempinski in Central Munich for previous football trips. Couldn't fault either.

Why are peeps booking accomodation before tickets go on sale? Are you all away season ticket holders or have loads of away credits?

I just bought 3 tickets for the Dynamo Zagreb game, have mates interested in going and that puts us on two credits. Somehow I am not sure if that will be enough for a trip to munich.

Last time we played Munchen Bayern was of course in the last 16 and that went down as low as 5+ credits, so you could be in luck.

Fingers crossed, I have loads of Avios so could do London to Munich business class and only pay taxes. Will be keeping my eyes peeled over the next few weeks.

Ticket details released, good allocation at 3,800. Hope it goes down to Gold Members with less than 5 credits.

Don't see why they wouldn't be posted

Got 3 no bother in the end. Looking at flight and accommodation options at the moment.

It seems to make sense to stay pretty central and catch a metro out to the stadium. Marienplatz is the most likely location for us. One metro journey no line changes, job done.

First time heading out to Munich. Any tips on accomodation near the Marienplatz?

Depends what your budget is mate. Tripadvisor is very good for sourcing hotels and seeing reviews (see link). We are looking at the Palace Hotel which is around 2 miles from Marienplatz. It's £350ish per room for 2 nights, which for a 5 star hotel isn't bad given it will be 2 to a room. Probably best to book flights first then book accomodation, there are loads of options.

Posted this one on the first page. £150/night for tuesday arrival and thursday departure. Very close to Marienzplatz. Quick walk through one of the main markets and you are there. High quality, modern hotel. Stayed there last year in Munich and found it very easy.

Cheapest price for those dates is £175, and thats for a double room which is no good. There are no twin room options. Would rather go with a better hotel that has more endorsements on tripadvisor for the same price.
