ENGLAND vs FRANCE Friendly

Every French person associated in some way professionally with French football has said how grateful they are to the English for the support they have shown by playing this match and the gestures around the stadium showing the French colours.

Have to say that I am very surprised (and disappointed) by some of the comments regarding the singing of the French national anthem - nobody has suggested that doing so will stick a big two fingers up to the terrorists or be the answer to these attacks, but at the same time I think showing a bit of unity with our European colleagues is a good thing. I continue to be one of those that really dislikes the French arrogance in most things they do, but these circumstances surely command some compassion from all of us ?? Nobody (outside engerland) thinks that by singing the French national anthem it will make the English fans less English, but yet some still get their knickers in a knot over it and get all territorrial (sp  ) over it
I'm not English but I would like to think that if I was, then I would be glad of the compassion and sympathy shown from other nationalities after the attack in London a few years ago

It makes me proud to be English that we did that

I'm surprised to see Diarra playing though.

Great hit but Dele Alli shouldn't be within a million miles of an England starter.

A kid has a run of games for his club in England and without fail he gets catapulted into the England side. Caps are chucked about more than earned.

worst england side ever?

its worse than the days of guppy, martin kelly, jake livermore, frazier campbell, jay bothroyd, zat knight, stepehn warnock, gavin mcann, seth johnson.

there a proper load of shite on tthe below list, and frankly its disgraceful. add dier, mason, alli, gibbs, chambers to that list. to think the romford pele only got 10 caps its shocking. kyle walker has more caps ffs.

caps in the last 15 and a bit years realy should come with a caveat as before the late 90's it was actually difficult to get capped, since just before sven they have been handed out to all and sundry. add to that the many meaningless games after the disintergration of eastern europe/soviet union, and it makes international football even more of a waste of time

Its good the game has gone ahead. Its sad that the games in Belgium and Holland were cancelled due to fear and genuine threats to crowd safety, which is the right thing to do. Id imagine Wembley would be the safest place to be in London tonight. The match itself ain't great.

When the fuck will we stop being blamed for every bad thing that goes on in the world?
think thats a bit of an OTT reaction

An over reaction.....really?
In English schools today, our kids are being taught that everything from slavery to starting the Second World War is Englands fault.
Our country is portrayed to children as racist, imperialist, colonialist and responsible for the majority of the worlds ills.
A couple of weeks reading this forum will have you believe they're Wenger's fault

It's a bit embarrassing reading some of the posts on here. As someone who lives in France now I think it's great that unity and empathy were shown by England fans and players alike, through the most popular sport in the world! Living with French people and their culture makes me realise just how fucking awful it was living in the south east of the UK for most of my life and I am truly thankful I don't live and work there now!! Good to see that the French anthem is due to be sung at all PL grounds this weekend......till all the bellends, Chavs and dickheads start to boo of course.

To my Ingerlish brethren, as an outsider looking in, I was impressed tbh. It gave a good impression of you - something that many many of your Ingerland football "fans" have historically not given tbh.

The singing of the French national anthem wasn't aimed at the terrorists, it was to show support for the French people. It was a gesture. And a decent one too. 8)

Tbh, the hardman affected cynicism on here is ludicrous at times.

I just read that the anthem is going to be played this weekend and I just can't agree with this decision. Not that I would boo if I were in a ground, but it's really just another example of the modern mawkish behaviour.

Tuesday was fine but leave it at that. This is over the top.

Agreed. Not got a problem with it per se, just think it is entirely unnecessary.

Would definitely agree with the above two comments . Tuesday was France playing , the French National Anthem would have been played regardless. I am not a callous person, but sometimes things are taken too far .
