Re: Weekend matches 5th/6th March
Although I have been supporting Watford in this match I can't say I will be too disappointed if Leicester win - it makes it that but harder for Spurs and that is the bottom line.
We did well today but threw out title challenge away at Old Trafford and v Swansea
Wenger must go if little Leicester beat us to the title

8 points behind Leciester with 9 games to go
3pts behind the scum and Citeh can leapfrog us too. What a total and utter balls up by Arsenal. Shameful.
Can you imagine if we finish 5th after all this?

A Leicester side that a couple of weeks ago we had moved to within 2 points with games against Man United reserves and Swansea reserves to follow.g88ner wrote:8 points behind Leciester with 9 games to go3pts behind the scum and Citeh can leapfrog us too. As you say, shameful.
Still, apparently there is "a remarkable spirit" amongst this group.

Being out of the title race now gives Wenger the excuse to go for it v Barcelona

Good on Leicester. I have no great affection for the chavs but every result they get will pull them away from a Spurs side who look a sure bet to implode in coming weeks.

Re: Weekend matches 5th/6th March
i agree. It does seem possible Tottenham might finish above us. We can't say we haven't had a good run finishing ahead of them in the last 19 years. But one day that record was going to be broken. I hope it doesn't and we still finish abovethem
But i'd rather they finish above us for one season, than actually bloody win the thing. Thankfully i wasn't born when they last one it and never wanted to see it in my life time. So i am hoping for at least another 40 years of starvation for them
So good on Leicester.

Everton fans becoming more and more frustrated with Martinez.
No in-game management
No plan B
Baffling substitutions
Cannot keep a lead
Team is "mentally weak"
Always someone elses fault
They're even calling him a "fraud"
I think hed be a great fit for us when Wenger goes, yea?

Augie certainly thinks so.

I'm sure all the Be All and End All lovers will be desperately cheering West Brom on today, hoping that the worst Man Ure side in 25 years don't pip us to our beloved VT. Please Baggies.....prevent the sun falling out of the sky and do us all a favour. A lap of appreciation isn't worth anything without the lure of a last 16 CL drubbing to look forward to the following February
Re: Weekend matches 5th/6th March
I was thinking this morning that we have to hope West Brom do us a favour and give us some breathing space between us and United, then I thought, who cares? What is the point? I can't believe how negative and despondent I feel right now. I even turned the match off when Coq was sent off, I've never done that before, I've always stuck it out to the bitter end! He really is just Wenger-lite. Kenwright wont sack him though. Lets see if this new guy, Usmanovs mate, Moshiri, who claims to "love the club" will pull the trigger..........mcdowell42 wrote:armchair wrote:Everton fans becoming more and more frustrated with Martinez.

I'm sure Mythinez would be on Wenger's shortlist of replacement candidates when he has finally decided to call it a day. Add to that list of qualities "defensively naïve" and you've got the full set. He'd be perfect for Wiggy too - wouldn't be a Maureen type demanding to spend big money, but would be happy with the crumbs from the table fucking around with Aruna Kone and the like.armchair wrote:He really is just Wenger-lite. Wenger-lite is exactly the way to describe him - the odd cup success, but season after season the same old failings. Also loves to over promote, reward and 'big-up' all his so called wonderboys too......what a perfect candidate to take on "the project"

Re: Weekend matches 5th/6th March
Martinez is a bad fit at Everton. It is a job for a reliable plodder. They expect to be Europa League and occasionally flirt with 4th - there is a massive glass ceiling as they have no hope of breaking into the top 4 or 5 consistently so it's difficult to overachieve. It's one thing at a club like Swansea or Wigan where expectations are/were low and you have far less expectation and far more licence to try something else.
Would be interested to see how Martinez did at a bigger club. Just not at Arsenal. To be fair he did do the one thing Moyes failed to do and actually signed a bloody good striker, but he seems too obsessed with the idea of what worked at Swansea and Wigan and my impression is that he would end up taking players like James McCarthy wherever he went.
Exactly the sort of manager we don't need to follow Wenger. Simeone would be great if we could get him (can anybody really see the board appointing somebody who will rock the boat like him?) but failing that I would want somebody like Ancelotti (although he's obviously going to Bayern). Although in reality it's more likely to be somebody like Dragan Stojkovic now that Remi Garde has been shown up.
