Augie as much as Pepe is a prick and if he was over here doing that every week people would be crying for him to be carded, it would have been regarded as outrageous across Europe had he sent off Pepe and everybody would have said that Clattenburg was just trying to make it about himself. Thought he dealt with it well by just laughing at Pepe and had a good game.

Ronaldo was gash but of course he has to have the last penalty for all the glory. Bale was excellent for 60-70 minutes.

Thought they overplayed how well Ateltico played personally - awful first half and Real should have put them away before the equaliser against the run of play. That said Atleticos style of play means that they will plenty of results where they haven't necessarily had the best of the game on balance.

Benzema has cemented my perception of him as a slightly better Giroud. Little bit more pace, better touch and moves more but for the lead striker at that club he offers such little threat.

Thought clattenberg did alright. He didn't ruin the game, and didn't make a drama out if a drama queen.
Bale was brilliant, Ronaldo looked beyond his best. Gabi and Carrasco were brilliant for Athletico as was Saveic at the back.
Zidane becomes first French manager to win Champions League. Only been doing the job 5 months...not 30 years. Will he be another Di Matteo or another Guardiola?
As for Benzema...all three Atletico forwards played better than him. He's way down the pecking list as a top striker.. which probably means he'll sign for us in the January window.

The laws of the game dictate that simulation merits a yellow card and that is what clattenberg should have done if he had followed the rules of the game. He was very quick to (rightly) book gabi for looking for a Madrid player to be carded, and that too is a law that is seldom enforced but it didn't stop him.
