I argued the case with several people in the Box Office, firstly with front line phone operators, then asked for a manager to be told I would only get the same answer, then asked to speak to Beverly Douglas (another of the Box Office Managers) who was too busy to talk.augie wrote:I am curious to know what, if anything, sparksy has decided to do about this situation![]()
I guess by nature I could be described as militant/argumentative, so I would not just let this lie without taking it to the very highest or lowest level. Bringing it to the tabloids would be an absolute certainty if it was me, but seeing as we have heard nothing about it, I guess it is safe to assume that sparksy didn't go this route.
Arsenal being Arsenal, I wasn't allowed to talk to anyone higher up the chain as being one of the Serfs I am not worthy of being in their presence.
Passed the complaint on to AISA, who have been very helpful. They contacted several people within the club but basically got the same answer, that it was discretionary as to how many ST Holders they allowed to move to the Family Enclosure to sit with their children. That discretion has now been removed as too many were asking to do so. They told me that Silver and Red Members were complaining (apparently) that they were being unfairly treated as there wasn't enough seats left for them to do the same.
I told them I would take any seat in the ground as I wasn't looking to specifically sit in the FE but was told that I had paid for my seat and under the terms and conditions bla bla bla.
I suggested enlarging the FE if it was that popular and was told they had already done so, taking in part of the Upper Tier and that they couldn't go any further as they had to balance this with how many match day tickets that had to go on sale to other members and also away fans.
To sum up AISA have said they will push this policy with Gazidis at their meetings with him, as they do feel it is anti children and with an ageing support, it is very important that the club are trying their best to introduce kids as children are exactly what the club need.
I did receive a phone call from the Box Office after AISA had spoken to them, the man was apologetic and understood where I was coming from as he had kids to but ultimately there was nothing he could do other than offer me one game as a gesture of good will but other than that, that's it.
He also admitted that because the ground is full every week things wont change unless attendances were to drop.
So what Arsenal are saying is,
a) don't bother signing your kids up to the Junior Gunners unless you are happy with your 4-11 year olds going on their own,
b) give up your ST you have held for many many years and fork out for 2 red memberships, in the hope of getting tickets for a game.
c) keep your overpriced ST and then fork out more money to buy another 2 red memberships.
d) borrow someone else's ST
e) give up and go spend your money somewhere else
Don't you just love the Arsenal.
