Despite yesterday's great performance there are major alarm bells ringing in my head for this one.

The absence of Sokratis will definitely destabilise the back line - he is proving to be a great leader at the back and its clear the rest of the defenders look up to him. He's a good old fashioned lump, and I'm taking to him more and more every game. We will also miss Lacazette - despite the penno, Auba has been shite for weeks and even on his best form struggles to hold the ball up and bring others into the game.....something he will desperately need to do with only 1 striker available of note

At the other end Helmet and Mustafi will play, which for me is unforgiveable and apart from the Xhaka fascination, I would say this cup keeper nonsense is the only thing that frustrates the shit out of me with Dick. He's fucking hopeless and was fucking hopeless the day we signed him.

That adds up to four big factors in a game where the margin for error is small.

Rennes are no world beaters but they do have a winger with pace to burn and as the game gets more stretched he will come into it more and more.

Big night - go into a 2 week lay off with 2 massive wins, rolling into the weekend where Liverpool play the Vermin, and we play at home to Newcastle....or skulk off to the international/cup break having been rolled out by these also rans and a mood of gloom.

Great news. Dick has to start him. If he can bully them high up the pitch like he did against the manc it could negate the constant threat of Kryten Features and Mustafalaugh. Could. Hopefully. Maybe.

Whenever we have had a bad defeat this season, i have had a go at Emery but i will give him huge credit for making us much more competitive in the big games. However one of the big criticisms i have of him is he is Wengeresque in his stubbornness, particularly with team selection. Cech shouldn't be near starting, Leno is young, agile and was key against both Spurs and United. The question is, is Emery ruthless enough to start Leno instead of giving Cech some sort of bullshit send off into retirement. On top of that, bar our entire defence being crocked, Mustafi should never play for us again. He is beyond calamitous and has zero footballing intelligence.
