Xhaka out for 3 months....the team needs to push on through this devastating news

Martinelli should be brought back to play in a team that is brimming with confidence and is prepared to break fast and move the ball quickly. The few chances he recently got were in a team playing in treacle with the weight of the team on his shoulders. If he's not going to play he needs to leave.
Who would you drop though, Arteta get a lot of shit for tinkering and rightly so, personally I'd put Lakonga in for Clive as an enforced change and leave well alone otherwise for the starting lineup.

Martinelli on for 25 mins to help build his confidence back if things are going well
Agreed. No point in starting Martinelli just because he's likeable if it's going to unblance the team. Give him minutes late on and see if he pushes someone out of their slot. A stable line up is massively important but no player should feel that they are a nailed on starter either.

Agree with this although I don’t fancy his chances of getting much game time soon with Pepe and lacazette also ahead of him in the pecking order

This over the top reaction by former players and the media is kinda worrying.....2 one nils against cannon fodder and a good 3 - 1 and suddenly we are nailed on for top four, Arteta can be the new Wenger according to Gael Clichy (God forbid), the process is working, :blah: :blah: :blah:....
Why can we never show any kind of caution or temperance? Lose or draw to Brighton and it will be ......well they are in the top 4...AND don't forget, we are without Xhaka.

Lets see 20 points out of the next 27, then I'll start believing.

As for Martinelli, he won't get a start, even a cameo is unlikely...Arteta just doesn't fancy him. I already feel he's dropped way off from when he first came on the scene.

It's the same on here. We have a few members telling us we shouldn't post anything that isn't completely positive because now we are a brilliant team - after beating a below par scum side.

There is so much hysteria nowadays. Everything is either complete shit or brilliant.

I've always felt and said we are not a good side but we are not a complete shit side either. We won't get relegated because the PL is full of garbage teams, at least 8 to 10 that are much worse than us. But equally I'd be very surprised if we got top 4. I still think we will be somewhere from 8th to 12th.

If Martinez-Lite did get us into the top 4 and with a decent cup run then I'd have to say he'd done well. But I don't believe he will achieve that. Hope I'm wrong but I just think his ego, lack of experience and stubbornness will cost us.

A fair assessment would be that we looked comfortable but in no way cohesive as an attacking force against two relegation fodder teams, against Spuds we were excellent in the first half but looked laboured in the second without being under the cosh or ever at risk of losing.

As said above by Xiss, we need to keep playing consistently well and gaining good points before anybody's assessment of Arteta and his squad should change.

There is potential there without a doubt and if he can refrain from tinkering and if lack of injuries allows we must start to build a first team of regular starters who can form partnerships all across the pitch

For me as yet nothing has changed as far as Arteta is concerned, a few wins means nothing especially as we started the season with 3 very poor results and preseason wasn't any better.

You optimistic so and so :barscarf:

I might get to watch first half at home (if I'm not given any DIY jobs, like wanking) but off out early with a few mates, it will probably be on in the pub but not a lover of watching footie in a boozer.

Anyhow as result goes this is a tough game, 1-1.

Maybe, just maybe Arteta is finally learning that constant tinkering disrupts the team :rubchin:

That is probably just about our best team so hopefully we start exactly as we did against Spuds and get the game done early :barscarf: :barscarf:

Mmmmm?
Last weekend aside, I would have no confidence going into this one!
The difference? Hopefully the changes in goal, defence and the way the attack is lined up.
A win here and Arteta will appear to have turned a very slight corner.
Brighton are a well organised side and if this is a false dawn they will expose it !
You don't turn shite into gold over night and likewise you don't put 12 months of incompetence behind you !
Brighton win!

Actually looking forward to this game. Potter is an astute manager and so both Arteta and the Players will need to be sharp right from the get go.
