Odergaard likely to start....midfield has to be over run by City...way to immobile and if they also give away cheap possession which partey is prone to do....can see nothing but a defeat

On the plus side going forward with ESR, Saka, Tierney and the ever willing runner Martinelli we can sneak a goal or even 2

Going to be interesting as this is the acid test

How will Odergaard find space? how will Ben White stand up to the pressure? how will arteta set them up? will xkaha get sent off?........as i say going to be interesting
How is this the acid test , have you seen the form they're in ,we are not competing with City , most people would have been happy with a Europa spot this year and we are in with a chance of that at the halfway stage. Unfortunately whatever defeat we get it will be used as another stick to bash Arteta with because the progress we have made is sheer luck anyway apparently.
I just hope we dig in a bit and have some fight in us but certainly won't be judging our form on this game.
Firstly no one really expecting us to win up there, bollox about arteta getting stick if we loose
This is how we can gauge any progress not against leeds sunderland or norwich, city are quality
not expecting a win just want to see how they react and stand up to City
These lot are the benchmark, and where are are strving to emulate, we are not Bunley or fucking Norwich just hoping to survive
a lot of talk about odergaard and Ben White...this will be a big test for them...interesting to see how it pans out

We are aiming for that very achievable 4th spot if we dont get it drop to Europa...you set your sights to low fella

Looking at the way Leicester broke them down in the second half comeback shows they are vulnerable to the quick break through the middle. I'd start with ESR, Martinelli through the middle and Saka, with Tavares on the left in front of Tierney. We might also see Aubameyang return to the squad. if he isn't in the squad for the city game, he's leaving in January for sure.
I genuinely hope we don't see him back, and I say that as a fan of his, well the old him, anyway. We simply can't afford to carry a passenger up front whilst carrying two passengers in the middle of the park.

No-one expected us to finish top 4 just look at the other thread , I'm just being realistic and sticking to my prediction in that thread. As we progress people will cleverly move the goalposts so they can still have a pop at Arteta if we finish 5th or 7th even though most would have taken that at the start of the season.
I'm surprised where we are but will give him genuine credit not the begrudged credit or down to luck most do because they have an agenda against him
Anyway this is the wrong thread and I just want to see a decent fight .

Lucky him, escape any criticism, even though he'll pick the team.....Xhaka first name on the team sheet, Odegaard ahead of ESR, the 2 players who fought tooth and nail not to even be at our club. Arteta has enough credit in the bank anyway.....even an absolute shellacking will be excused as "what do you expect, it's City" What we'll get now is "See what happens when Mikel isn't there"

Well, one highlight will be Xhaka getting shown up for the clumsy, plodding carthorse that he is. I expect Odegaard to be anonymous as well, he won't have the time he needs to be effective.

A heavy loss will just get dismissed, we don't expect to beat the frontrunners, that is the mindset at the club, 4th is The Holy Grail, even among the owners.

Not sure anyone is too bothered about predictions or agendas TBH....yes agree if he can sustain this progress and get a CL spot you have to give him credit
tough games coming up starting with City....will watch with interest

Agree totally - convenient that he is missing for the game that he is sure to get bent over by his former boss

It's an absolute win win for him. A heavy defeat and Pep will say it would have been a much tougher game had Arteta been present. Magnanimous in victory, and praise as usual for his protege.

i realised today after the Artetademic that i have no idea who his number 2 is.

Wenger had Pat Rice and then Bouldy but I have no idea who Arteta has.
Could anyone enlighten me?

Thank you in advance.
