Re: Fat Frank's Blue dippers H Sun 11th Sept KO 2pm
I reckon this weekend won’t go ahead
The test match cricket tomorrow has already been cancelled and all horse racing fixtures.
I think the funeral will be next weekend but I think matches then might go ahead if they can get the funeral done on Saturday morning
Having said all that it does seem a bit over the top if they are cancelled

I am sure they will be cancelled. I was listening to Radio One this eve and it was a bit weird that the national anthem started playing out of the blue.Gunner Rob wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 7:17 pmI reckon this weekend won’t go ahead

Strong rumours now that they will be cancelled.
However apparently back in 1952 when the last King died the matches all went ahead as normal.

If the funeral is 18th September (very possible apparently) then there is no way we will be playing Brentford that day.

I'll be beyond amazed if the games aren't cancelled. Given that these days, black armbands are worn and minutes silence held, for people no one's ever heard of and / or events that occur halfway around the globe that no one's connected to, this has to be given major treatment.
Royalist, or nor, it is a huge and significant event, the end of an era.
Personally, I'd play the games, because the old girl wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Stoical and no fuss. That said, I'll understand if they're called off, because we know that if they're not, contemporary emotional incontinence will take hold and the head of the FA will be targeted for "cancellation" and the sack. As usual, they'll run scared of the Twitter mob.

Our next league game might be the NLD the way things are going.

Looks like next two league games won’t happen, but suspect UEFA will insist the PSV game takes place as there are no other midweek dates this side of the World Cup.Gunner Rob wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 8:19 pmOur next league game might be the NLD the way things are going.
Wasn’t able to make it to Arsenal this Sunday, so didn’t get a ticket, but will look on TX for a return for rearranged game.

I think it only fit and proper that the season ends hereGunner Rob wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 7:42 pmStrong rumours now that they will be cancelled.
However apparently back in 1952 when the last King died the matches all went ahead as normal.

Advice regarding weekend football prior to meetings shortly and at 11am (Prem) is being briefed that individual clubs may choose whether to play or not over the weekend, or how they commemorate/celebrate/mourn.
