Just read this thread from the beginning.....I really do not know where all this sudden confidence is coming from. Yeah, they're crap, but we are in complete disarray, why can't people see that. 7-0, what are you smoking? I don't even think we'll win, never mind get 7. Yea they're shit, but so are we atm. We couldn't get up for the Southampton game when the title was at stake, how are we going to get up for this?
If we score and Xhaka calls them in for that huddle thing that has endeared him to the brain dead, I'm done for the season.
1-1
Btw for anybody that is interested, Wenger is pontificating in the media about why we have fallen away in the.last 4 games
. Like we need advice from the guy who made a yellow spine and collapsing an integral part of every Arsenal side for the last 15 years. God, is there anyone in football with less self awareness?
The last time I dared to be confident was West Ham - a team that were on a one way freefall out of the PL, had lost their last home game 1-5 to Newcastle, whose fans had turned against them and were discussing who was going to replace Moyes when the inevitable sacking took place. Playing awful, non scoring football with a massive lump like Antonio up front - capable of losing to anyone, anywhere. The first 15 minutes of that game had me sensing my confidence was well founded - 2-0 up, they couldn't get a kick, their fans had gone and it was a matter of how many. I actually thought a record away win might be the agenda that day.
Cue the lazy, arrogant, mentally weak Partey trying to fuck about in a way I'd have been angry about if we were 5 up with 2 minutes remaining, and enter the fray Gabriel - a man whose decision making is so poor that he basically admitted to the penalty by sliding in with his hands up in the air! From there the whole mental fragility of the team was exposed yet again.
That was against a West Ham team who have been in danger of going down and lower than Chelsea all season - and certainly with a lower quality of player on the field. If we can make Antonio look like Ronaldo and Haaland rolled into one, and the following week can make Walcott look like Henry, then we can sure as hell make some of the world's most expensive footballers look brilliant whatever their current form.
Never underestimate our ability to kick start someone's season. Have a look at the City thread and some of the results we've had in past seasons when the pressure has been on. Teams that are currently kicking around at the bottom of the Championship have been able to nobble us. Teams that were relegated in those seasons. Southampton will be relegated this season. Probably Everton too. Chelsea won't be
