I DON'T BUY IT...JUST LIKE ARSENE DOESN'T!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Yes, Senderos is a good back up player to have at the club.

What mistakes?

Senderos makes a number of mistakes in every match he plays, from poor positioning to terrible clearances, however to his credit he usually manages to get himself out of the holes he digs.

What is worrying though, is that one time, maybe in a big match, a single mistake could result in a goal if the opposition manage to capitalise.

That's not to say that Gallas and Toure are perfect, but they make less mistakes, and with a basic law of averages, Senderos is more likely to have an error in a big match.

Watch the matches again on Arsenal TV when they are repeated and look at Phil honestly. How many over hit passes? How many under hit passes? How many scuffed clearances. How many times caught out of position? Too many for that level.

I don't have time to go into every incident so I'll list one (you'll have to look at the games again for the rest); Keane's goal for the scum. Ball hoofed over top landed between spud and Phil. Phil froze - didn't come to meet it or turn to anticipate the run past and give himself a chance of getting a challenge in. He did the worst thing anyone could in that situation - he stood square on, flat as f*ck and the spuds just ran past him. Basic, basic, schoolboy error.

Senderos will be remembered in the same light as Stepanovs. Nice bloke, honest heart, a battler - but ultimately just not good enough.

Last season Manure won the title yet still spent £60m in the summer. As i have said many times before our first eleven is a match for any one but we just dont have strength in our back up players. What happens if Gallas or Cesc get injured.

RVP has been out for 4 months,Rosicky plays one misses 3.Manure with Scholes now fit and with no players missing at the ANC are now at full strength. Why is Arsene so stubborn when it comes to spending our money?

A quote from wenger in today's telegraph -

"We have certainly, at the moment, the smallest squad [compared to Chelsea and United], that's why it's important that we don't have injuries," said Wenger. "At the moment we have two injured, three players at the African Nations Cup. If we lose players now and we get injuries in the African Nations Cup, I will have to do something."

Does he know that it is already the 29th of january and that the transfer window closes in 2 days time :?: :?:  He has admitted that our squad is thin but basically if we dont get an injury tonight he will stick with it  The statements coming from le boss lately are bizzare to say the least - maybe he is spending too much time with phw

Too true Augie we could avoid any injuries tonight yet get two or three on saturday. Then what does Arsene do? It will be too late to sign anyone, The big games are starting to come thick and fast can we afford to take that gamble and not sign anyone? the answer is NO

Buying

Post by lowerwest »

Fast forward to every transfer window and the discussion will be the same. Its Wenger's achilles heel if you ask me in that he fails to buy when we are in a position of strength rather allowing a crisis to develop before doing something about it. Quite how we are doing so well is nothing short of a miracle. I suspect what we all suspect that the finance is not there & all this stuff about finding value and money available if needed is in fact a smokescreen. Fast fwd to June 2008 "we may bring in one or two but we wont make be buying big".

Dont know about anyone else but 1 or 2 this transfer window would be nice, dont think anyone is asking for Ronaldo and Kaka we have to be realistic but a couple of players to strengthen key positions would be a start

You have to admit out of the top 6 we have the lightest squad and probably the one least able to cope with injuries. I am counting Spurs in that top 6 because under Ramos they look in better shape.Squad wise i would be put us on a par with Everton or Villa so for us to be where we are is a miracle.

During Uniteds "transistion period" , we went ONE season without winning anything...you have gone several seasons without silverware...Wenger wouldnt get a away with it at a big club

One League cup (which some of you you lot were too embarassed to celebrate) and an FA cup. Woo hoo.

It's only been two seasons without a trophy for us, not several.
