miss the north bank so much!! so many memories, from my first game losing 3-0 to coventry (bloody Micky Quinn) till the wigan game, watching that youtube vid got me all emotional!
loved the bar in the north bank lower, such a great atmosphere at half time and before games, loads of singing and banging the metal pillars to make more noise, great days!
also remember before games going through every player singing their names/songs just before kickoff and each player applauding us in turn. something that doesn't happen these days either.
wish we could get that type of atmosphere at the emirates.

I was middle as well!
Fucking fantastic days and has been said previously something that future generation will never experience!
Just the feeling of being swept of your feet when we scored and looking round to see who you was stood next to is now 10 metres away was amazing!
Anyone else used to go in the Junior Gunners bit in the East Stand and then sneak in to the North Bank as that is where all the "boys" were? Thinking you was the nuts in your 3/4 Arsenal 1/4 Celtic hat!
Just in case Arsenal FC are reading this........no I don't owe you any money cos I sneaked in after a paying a lower entrance fee! If you want to get arsey about it I have measured your foot long hot dogs and they aint even close!

I don't miss the seated North Bank at all and prefer the new ground.

Old Northbank, standing, was fucking, fucking fantastic.
When we used to do synconised jumping, the concrete used to BOUNCE.
Oppo supporters used to get in there too.
Only bad memory was when West Ham pushed us about one season. Never felt so ashamed. We used to be tough in those days. Swampdwellers weren't even at the races.
Atmosphere generally was always electric.
Happy days.

Arsenal/Celtic hat - I had one of them! The bobble came off! My brother had an Arsenal/Rangers hat. Those were fabulous bits of headgear. That is what I call bringing back memories.

What was the deal with the Arsenal/Celtic hats? Was it just because of Charlie nicholas, or was there more to it?flash gunner wrote:Found my Arsenal/Celtic hat round my mums the other day loved it. It was just a "fashion" of the time. You could buy these half-and-half bobble-hats with Arsenal and a number of Scottish teams. If you look back at some old videos from the 80s you'll see thousands of them on the North Bank and in the schoolboys enclosure. They were sold on the street, not by Arsenal.N17 Gooner wrote:What was the deal with the Arsenal/Celtic hats? Don't those Arsenal/Celtic hats exist anymore?
It was mainly a dual alligence thing wasn't it - with the Irish in North London.
It would be a good idea to do it with small lower league/non league sides.
Arsenal/Enfield
Arsenal/Barnet
Arsenal/Orient
Arsenal/Dagenham
Arsenal/Grays
Arsenal/Canvey
Gotta be a few quid in that.
