Now Gilberto is another matter. If any player deserves stick it's him.
I know he has had a bad season but why? He has been a loyal and very good servant of the club

I just don't rate him at all. He can't pass the ball, I swear he can't be Brazilian.
He has been a disgrace when he's played this season. Just trotting about the pitch and clearly not giving a fuck.
He has to be sold at the end of the season.

Were you watching him last season?

Sure, he's had a poor year, but has previously been a great servant of the club.

Nobody denies he has been awful this season, he has been important for quite a few years before that as our holding midfielder. He is a world cup winner, a 49er and now Brazil captain, not bad for a guy who can't pass :P

Yeah, but I think his 'form' was overblown a bit. All this 'you don't realise you miss Gilberto until he isn't playing' was a load of rubbish in my opinion.

but we did miss him when he was gone. Yes Flamini has stepped up to the plate this season but nobody did when Gilberto has been out before

Gilberto's on the decline, but he's done a great job in the past, so why criticise him? He's on his way out, and (like someone like Pires) he will probably do better once he's being regularly picked to start. Why can't we just say to unassuming, modest pros like Gilberto, thanks, good luck and see you again soon?

I'm not saying boo him or anything like that, but I think he's consistently been our worst player over the years.
He had a run where he scored a few goals, but I still think it's a myth that he was some kind of player who was really missed, because I honestly don't think he was.

Anyone want to defend Eboue a bit now the match is over?

He was shit today. I thought he'd do a Mascherano on us and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he had.

He needs to go. Top of the summer 'TRANSFERS OUT' list.

Gilberto was a powerhouse and a leader last season.

It seems he has not been fully fit this season.

He has carried himself with dignity, even in face of what seemed liek a snub from Wenger when captaincy was handed to Gallas.

I think Gilberto should be sold in the summer because he clearly has lost pace, but should be applauded as a true professional, a good man, and one who gave his heart to the club.

This sums up Gilberto's season for me:

Blackburn Rovers, in last month's nervy 2-0 win, are the only Premier or Champions League team Arsenal have defeated this season in a match that Gilberto has started in midfield.

By no coincidence, all of Arsenal's worst performances this season - at Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Seville, Prague, Tottenham, ManYoo and now Wigan - have occurred on days that the non-player of the year has made a rare appearance on the team sheet.

If a player who whinges to the press about not being in the team, and then when he does play spends it walking (yes walking) around in midfield giving the ball away constantly and showing no interest whatsoever, is acting with dignity, then Gilberto has lots of it!
Ok, last season he was OK at times, but nowhere near as some seem to think. In my opinion.

As for Eboue, he didn't play that well yesterday, but neither did most of the team. Certainly can't single him out.

Well you clearly haven't got a clue then have you? Gilberto was an absolute must in the Arsenal team for the past few years. During the spell he was out with the back injury we missed him REALLY badly. If you think that's bollocks then you can't have seen too many games.

I think I watched pretty much every single game last two seasons actually (football4less is a godsend, despite the occasional Hong Kong commentator), and in my opinion I don't think he was playing as well as the majority seemed to think.
The fact that his injury led to some bad form was coincidence more than anything for me.

So you haven't seen any games then.
