The thing about leaving a shirt number vacant, say 14, too longis that it then increases the pressure on whoever finally does take it as it almost becomes a poisoned chalice with the weight of exectation.

Sure , maybe there are better numbers that Gallas could wear butcould you imagine buying a young striker and sticking him in the 10 shirt now? The hype and "new Bergkamp" flannel would be ridiculous and a weight on anyones shoulders.

I really hope if Nasri signs that he says "I want the 14 shirt so I can follow in the footsteps of a French legend" etc!

Will admit I was hoping Theo would inherit it but seems to me the little fella is happy with 32!
