Napoli Ultras

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

the intensity of the ultras is to be admired. but they are *word censored* as well. the organisation IS something we could learn from to get things we want if not changed at least looked at. they would not stand for half the shit we put up with. they are a voice to be listened to

I read an interview once, when the president of an Italian club was saying how they would love to sell replica shirts to their fans, like we do in England, because it's a potentially huge revenue stream for them... but, unfortuantely, the Italian fans have never really been into wearing replica shirts. Instead, favouring flags, scarves, and hats.
This makes sense all but there is a more sinister reason surely
In my post, I simply said "the fans don't want to wear replica shirts"... but, yes, there probably are reasons behind that, other than simply, fashion.

Wouls be interesting to know. Anybody?

It's simply a case that they can avoid police attention by not wearing replica shirts. With violence being rife amongst some Ultras, policing can be quite tight.

Not so sure about that, but I'm going to see AC Milan vs Lazio at the San Siro (sorry... The Guiseppe Meazza  ), next week, so I'll do some research, and try to get an answer!

They can be a bit heavy handed sometimes. Manure supporters have found this out. Some Ultras have links to organised crime, as is the case with some corrupt members of the police. It can lead to a violent and fatal combination.

i bloody love that aspect of the ultras the displays, the noise the atmosphere they create and the lengths to which they go in order to show their support to their team. the way in which these groups have inspired others across europe in germany and france and especially the noteriety gained by the likes of dinamo zagreb, fenerbahce, et al. in such similar circumstances really has raised the bar in terms of proper support, despite the flip side of violence and troubles. its easy and correct to damn the violence and damage that these groups have caused on their travels, but its not such an easy task to follow their pitch side antics and the effect that such actions can have in the hearts of our players. you just need to see comments fat lampard made on the effect of a cheer in barcelona.

It strikes me as all too serious.

Simply not an English characteristic to be so organised in a display of supporting a team, like some sort of Olympic opening ceremony.

What makes me laugh is some of the ultra's are running through with flares and large bars/sticks and the police dont do a thing just sheppard them through quite funny really.

Cant see anything like that ever happening in england!

not that much differnt to the march from the rocket to emirates, just the fact the flares and the fact we dont kno wat there saying make it more intriguing.

If only!!

The really big difference is that they get into the ground early to whip the atmosphere up, whereas Red Action spend their time in the Rocket!!
