Where's I Hate Hleb

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Definately for the worse  I'm hoping it's just because it's the start of the season, but I guess time will tell.

Hope your folks are doing ok Hlebby. I wish them all the best, mate. 8)

The forum has changed. But in fairness when we (the older regulars) all started posting in early 2007 we changed it too.

If we don't like the direction it's going in then it's up to us to change it back.

Personally, I think it's still operating within the limits that make me enjoy it. Sure, there are a few new people but we need to give them time to develop their forum "personalities" just like we all did.

At least we seem to have sorted the fucking troll problem out. 8)

Except for Gus...

Hello Hlebster!

Sorry again your parents health is still a concern buddy.

Personally I think the forum has changed for one reason.........Arsenal are frankly boring!

There really is not much to say about the side because it was all said last season and nothing has changed.

Pretty football that doesn't always bring the required result. Defensive weakness. A centre forward who needs ten chances to score one goal and another who looks the part but produces little. A squad the is woefully thin etc etc etc!

We was saying all of this a year ago and it has got kinda laboured repeating it.

The banter on here is just as good if not better but there are minimal talking points that haven't been covered before because nothig changes at Arsenal!

Many thanks to DB10, Gus and others for your good wishes with regards my parents health. Sadly it is deteriorating (especially mum's) and it's becoming more difficult by the day. However, although it is having an emotional and physical effect on the family, it's something we just have to get on and deal with as best we can.

Gus,

You're right that we are repeating a lot of what we were saying last year about the Arsenal. However, it's not so much that the football related threads have become boring for me. I'll always want to read and discuss Arsenal or any kind of football related stuff. Let's face it though, it was always the minor partner on this forum - if not in importance to us, than certainly in terms of the amount of time discussing it.

No, it's the fun and interesting non-Arsenal/football related threads that have gone to pot in my opinion (Although, put like that, maybe I should be pleased!! ) and people are now starting up threads on the most banal and silliest (not in a good way) of subjects. If it weren't for the fact that I had to read them in order to monitor the content, I would be giving most of them a miss.

I really did used to look forward to coming on here because regardless of what mood I was in, there would be something on the forum that would make me laugh hysterically, think more deeply, or even getting in a huff about. Sadly that is no longer the case. :(

Wish you the best IHH over a difficult time.

I notice here that the posts go up in frequency when Arsenal do badly, and down when there are wins.

The main thing with this Forum membership is that though 99.9% are Arsenal fans there is a big range of age and location that makes for different types of threads.

Some come here for a laugh, some for serious chat, most for a bit of both.

I think there is room for all the types of threads here.

If one comment winds me up personally, then I will get involved in an argument, but mainly I am here to chat Arsenal.

The age thing makes for a big difference in members...those fans pre Wenger and those fans post Wenger have a very different perspective.

There also has to be a recognition that we all have different backgrounds in life. It makes us have very different perspectives on things.

No disrespect to Rebel, but he posted saying how he had his first trip to the new stadium this season because he lives overseas, despite being a longtime fan.

That means he is watching on tv, and that gives a different view from those who go to games regularly.

The differences are what makes this Forum work s long as people keep that fact in mind.

You sound a bit jaded mate. The rest of us can pick and choose what threads we read or respond to; you have to read them all... I can see how that would get someone down - some of the threads are just shite...

Maybe pack in the mod work for a while? :?

I'd hate to lose an old hand like yourself Hlebby. 8)

IHH - as a mod you are not obliged to read everything, but keep an eye on what you do read. think what does happen on the forum is that if there is nonsense going on that needs addressing, mods can be PM'd by regulars - and that happens very occasionally. but all regulars should feel free to PM any mod that they think are likely to be able to respond quickly if the forum's boundaries are being over-stepped.

on the personal front - thoughts are with you and get your priorities right in terms of the people you should really be overseeing.

as for the forum itself, i have found it more and more addictive the more posts there are, simply because there is greater choice of threads to choose from and maybe because my own time is short. general chat is like a pandora's box i dare not open as i know i won't be able to tear myself away for ages. so i often just stick to further discussion so i can get back to work quicker.

bottom line is this though. if the regulars are entertaining, others will be drawn in to take part. it's catch 22. and of course all judgments on how good it was/is are highly subjective. but you guys still bring a smile to my face on a regular basis, and that can only be a good thing from this perspective.

As gooner.ed rightly said, now is the time for you take care of priorities and of course your family should be number 1 so nobody will blame you for ducking and diving for a while. If, on occasions, we can help cheer you up with the craic on here or maybe just be a release valve for you to let some steam off then so much the better.

Like everybody else I would also like to wish your parents well and also for you to find the strength the help them at this time cos it is never easy to watch a loved one when they are sick much less anything more serious. Best wishes mate
