What would Barca, Madrid, United, Chelsea, Liverpool etc. have done to Roma if they were playing them tonight. Beaten them 4 or 5 that's what. Roma were absolutely shocking tonight, as bad as I've seen at defending and our complete inability in front of goal could cost us dear.

There is no doubt that bedtner has not got the quality required to play for this club. I know I am repeating myself here but he was nothing short of woeful again tonight. Everytime wenger plays him he is handicapping the team and stunting the potential progress of vela who is not and will not improve with these 15 minute cameo's that wenger is giving him

I know you might think im mad but i thought song was good and made some great tackles... I think we will definetely get through as well

yeah you are mad

He did one crucial thing - won a header from a free kick in the dying seconds. Imagine if Mexes had nodded it in and Roma nicked a 1 - 1... unthinkable...

When Song came on we lost all our momentum. From being a side that was pushing forward we let Roma close the game out at 1-0 when we should have been looking for the killer 2nd goal.

Ask yourself this question afc-bob why did we play so well for 60mins?.Answer Song was on the bench

Diaby looked injured when he came off and it would have been one hell of a risk to put an 18 year old on with little experience. I'd have still chosen that personally but you can see why it was done.

At the end of the day we're ahead with a clean sheet in the bank and they didn't exactly look special so hopefully with a couple of players back for the second leg we can get through this one. Let's face it, Bendtner and possibly Eboue will be on the bench when we go over there and we won tonight with these lesser players starting.

Hope Wenger goes for Nasri in behind the lone striker again because he really looks a lot more dangerous in that position.

I have a number of differing opinions tonight.

The good first.

Tactically I thought Wenger got it spot on. Playing 2 deep and Nasri off the front with Bendtner and Eboue wide of him worked very very well. We intercepted almost every ball they tried to play through the middle and usually had at least 2 on 1 when ever Roma picked it up off the front.

Van Persie showed me again to be one of the top forwards around right now. His turn and touch for the penalty was second to none. And he dispatched it well.

Defensively the two centre back were pretty much switched on throughout the whole game.

The Bad.

Fucking cheating Italian bastards. There was some synical shit going on out there tonight. Diaby was pretty much taken out and Totti looked like he followed through trying to take Denilson out as well. The two were pretty much running the midfield till that point.

Finishing. Oh sweet lord there was some awful shit out there tonight. With Wenger going ape on the sidelines I couldn't help thinking he had only himself to blame. Better quality players would have taken at least one of the chances.

Whilst certain players who have been getting it all season had decent games tonight I can't help thinking that this is probably the upper most of their abilities. And if it means we only scrape 1-0 against an awful Roma team it can't bode well as the players for me are unable to consistantly produce this form. So when they return to their normal levels we would struggle to beat an awful Roma side.

So I'm not sure what to make of this. It should have been 2 or 3. And with none of the long term absentees looking likely to return before the second leg it'll have to be the same team from tonight that takes us through.

And that does worry me.

I thought song was ok tonight. He was strong and solid.

Look at the chances that were missed, thats where we were poor tonight, RvP wasn't really that good, he needs to shoot more, cos he's the only one that can bloody finish!! And i think Vela is a class player, but he struggled when he came on tonight.

oh and

Dear Mr Wenger, please can you give clichy and Sagna some crossing practise, cos they are shit at it!!

Have to admit i thought Eboue played well tonight apart from missing the sitter he ran his bollocks off (the thing we knock Ade-cash-whore for not doing) and created some openings with his direct running. Pleased with the clean sheet at home but its gonna be tough over there :?
