Rooney's Off!! Erm.... apparently No he isn't now.

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

It will be very interesting to see if Citeh can manage to secure his signing.
They undoubtedly have signed some big names thus far, but the "real big signings" haven't happened, eg Kaka.
The siginings they have made so far whilst making the headlines here, have hardly been big news elsewhere.
To secure the signing of Rooney, (from arguably the biggest club in the world who just happen to be their neighbours) would be the first real step in launching Citeh as a real "player" in world football, and lay the foundations for establishing them as a "global brand".
Make no mistake this would be the biggest signing in Enlish football history, as big as or even bigger than the Barca / Madrid / Figo triangle.
The long term consequences of which will have far reaching implications for all the so called big 4 or 5 or whatever we now refer to ourselves as.

I've got the feeling that he'll go to Chelsea rather than City because:

He will earn plenty of money;

He's got lots of his England mates there;

They have a strong squad with proven winners;

An owner with ambition and more importantly, one that can afford and isn't afraid to spend;

Although he'll get abuse in any case, Rooney would probably get less stick going to Chelsea and living in London than if he stayed in Manchester.

Hope I'm wrong and that Rooney ends up abroad but I fear that if the chavs get him, they'll probably have a period of dominance similar to Man Utd's - and worst of all, probably go on to win the CL. Indeed, they might do that without him anyway, but if Rooney goes there, it will increase their chances even more. :cry: :cry: :banghead:

do you think that he is that good if he leaves Utd? I rate RVP, Drogba, Torres and Tevez all above him, not to mention Ronaldo and Messi. I just couldn't understand why all big clubs like to sign him. He just performed a good season like Greedy, end of...

I don't know mate, personally I reckon it will be City..

He will earn plenty of money;

I'd say more at Man City, even John Terry was tempted..

He's got lots of his England mates there;

Haven't Man City now got more England players ? Barry, SWP, Milner, Lescott, A Johnson, Joe Hart ??

An owner with ambition and more importantly, one that can afford and isn't afraid to spend;

And Man City don't ?? If anything Roman has seemed to have curbed the spending at Chelsea, while Man City are still in the market for players..

Although he'll get abuse in any case, Rooney would probably get less stick going to Chelsea and living in London than if he stayed in Manchester.

That may be true, but I'm sure he got plenty of stick still living in the north west when moving from Everton to Man U. I think Rooney has become so self-centred and cocooned in his own world he really wouldn't give a shit. Also I think he'd be more fired up to "prove" the Mancs (red ones) wrong doing the business for City.

You know what Al, I was thinking exactly the same thing as I was typing the reasons why Chelsea rather than City and so can't really refute anything you wrote there. I guess the last reason was probably the strongest one and why I thought he'd prefer London.

Getting stick from a few thousand Evertonians will probably pale into insignificence compared to what he'll get from the larger fan base of Man United. Plus it's one thing leaving a struggling Everton to go to proven success at Man Utd (who aren't their bitter neighbours) and another leaving for the side across the City!!! Personally, I know what I'd do.

Go to Real Madrid!! 8) :lol: :lol: :wink:

I wonder if the injury will keep him out until the New Year and leave in the Jan transfer window. :roll:

Would be funny (and could happen) if no teams wanted him this winter....Holding out for the bargain summer sale. £5M! He'd recoup that as a signing on.

What would Manure do for a whole year without Roo :twisted: :lol:

They will be double fucked if he does that, don't think they can afford the big name player or 3 to keep the fans happy without getting 30M for him. :shock:
