This has it's advantages though. I heard that when he was on holiday and his kids buried him in the sand then couldn't find him, all it took was a quick once round the beach with a metal detector and they dug him right up.
They didn't bury him, one of them accidentally dropped a bucket of sand on him

I think you're getting the wrong end of the stick Frenchie, the only reason that I and perhaps Mikey would like RVP to quit international football is because of his poor injury record. A few times, he has been injured on international duty meaning that he has missed huge chunks of the season, it would surely be beneficial to him and to us (The Arsenal) who pay his wages, that he stepped back and thought.... I must cut down on playing time.... I wonder how I could do this...... Then perhaps, just perhaps he would show some loyalty to the club that pays his wages, when he is fit and injured, and just quit international football, hence, cutting down on the chances that he could be (would be) injured...

As I said I actually agree that RVP should never ever play any friendly again, as it's useless. His ankle injury made by Chiellini that took him out for most of the season was made during a friendly game and this, I agree, I find totally unacceptable.
As for RVP's loyalty towards the club, I don't see many players today that are as loyal as RVP towards Arsenal. The guy has always told he loved Arsenal, he's never made any fuss about signing a new contract, when he's on the pitch he always give 100%.
THere's tons of player in our side now days that are worse than RVP, that have their wages payed by Arsenal and it fans, that are far more lucky with injury than RVP, but they still don't put the slightest effort.

I know what you're getting at Frenchie and I have no qualms about RVP's talent and contribution WHEN fit, but what other club what have put up with RVP's injury record over the years, since he joined us... no wonder he's showing us loyalty, he's getting paid to sit in the stands or laying on the treatment table for half the year.

If RVP had been a racehorse, he'd been put down a few years back... (and would have probably been one of Rebel's tips)

King at scum. Hargreaves at Manure - if Van Persie's made of glass, Hargreaves is made of sand. Over the last 3 or 4 seasons VP's supposedly played as many league games as Essien.

Not suggesting that makes the situation acceptable, but I don't think this is another Arsenal-specific thing.

Problem isn't that we should've got rid of him, it's just that we shouldnâ€™t be so reliant on him. We could probably get Â£10-Â£15m for Bendtner

and bring in a striker who really could challenge VP when he is fit (or even play alongside him) and replace him when he's inevitably ruled out for "10 days"/4 months with a snapped hyman. We dont need to sell Van Persie to bring in another quality, more reliable striker.

We can all comment on what we would do but sadly nothing will change.

Next season we wont sign a keeper and we will get another 2-3 months out of RVP again.

We will shout at Barry for being so shit and Cham will make some nice runs, try his hardest and score a good hand full of headers and tap ins.

As long as RVP keeps giving the boss cuddles and fun times in the hot tub he will be first choice even when injured. The reason we donâ€™t sign anyone is because Wenger loves RVP so much

In an ideal world I would love a new striker brought in to challenge RVP but it wont happen.
