Went to this yesterday. Didn't agree with the booing at all. Is clear though that we have exactly the same problems as last year. Time is running out for Wenger to make changes to. I would have preferred him to buy early only so new additions have a chance to fit in with the squad, but might not be the end of the world.

When we can't beat a team that would struggle to stay in the Championship and display all of the weaknesses that have been our downfall a bit of booing at the end is OK by me.

Don't you think that's the reason people are booing? It's either that or shouts of 'WENGER OUT', take your pick. Either way, Wenger has to get the message loud and clear that he is on borrowed time and he has to improve the defence now and not fuck around penny pinching until 11.59pm on 31 Aug.

But Demun, can't you see that it's fucking pointless playing well going forward if you've got a dodgy defence that's liable to crack when under pressure. If he makes an effort to shore up our defence then fine but as it stands he's fucking around again, concentrating on attack minded players when you know it's the defence that we need to spend big on.

Mata's fine but....... :banghead:

Yes I couldn't agree more. Sadly the idiots were the ones giving Eboue a hero's welcome, walking out of the Armoury with £300 of tat merchandise, performing a Mexican wave while most of us wanted to watch the fucking match and singing "Stand up if you hate Tottenham" at a pre-season tournament.

Yes, they're the proper fans I assume. Not people like me that have been going regularly since the 1970s but have the temerity to voice disapproval when the 90 minutes is actually up and our gormless manager is set to defend the indefensible once more.

I think my booing was aimed at the comments in yesterday's match programme in Wenger's column

"Every year we are under enormous pressure to buy centre halves. Well, we have four of them, and Carl can play there too"

Quite frankly mate, we don't need people telling us whether we can boo or shout disapproval. Personally I think wearing fancy dress to matches and trying to turn it into some sort of singing contest are the morons but each to their own. And as for the block who rounded on the 100 or so Red Bulls fans by chanting "Who are ya ?" (is there anything more fucking childish than that) when we went 1-0 up......I'd have a long hard look at yourselves before making any comments about a few boos.

I'd even dispute the 'playing well in attack' aspect Eboue-Why? because for all our possession, how many good chances do we actually create and how often do we force their keeper to make important saves. Indeed, how often in the past couple of years has the opposition keeper been Man of the Match? Certainly a lot less than was once the case.

Yeah completely agree. Our defence is so clumsy, it really has you on edge every time the opposition break forward...just using yesterdays game as an example, while I admired the efforts shown by the defence to close down and try to break up the New York Red Bulls attacks, it was like watching a bunch of headless chickens just trying to be in the right place without ever really committing to a meaningful tackle. Better teams punish that, as we've seen many times.

The defence is in critical need of a leader, but not just that, better intelligence and communication. As much as I like Gibbs, I really don't feel confident if he is going to be our first choice left back. We've all said it for ages, we need a commanding CB. Wenger has said he intends to address the problems in defence, but I just hope we get the right man, and aside from Samba I'm not convinced with the players we've been linked with.

In theory Squillaci was a good signing, believe it or not, he was a decent defender at previous clubs, but he's clearly not cut out for the Premiership. We can't afford to mess up with this signing, there's no excuses.
Having reached the age of 30 and played all his football in the non-contact sport leagues of France and Spain, you would have thought one of club's highly paid scouts would have fathomed that wouldn't you ?

Hallelujah!!!!! So if you agree with what you've written, how do we get the message over to the stubborn one? And if the quote in the programme notes about our existing centre backs is true.........

With every passing year that Wenger mugs us off you could argue anyone who goes is an idiot.
