As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I completely agree with this sentiment, and am shocked that others knocked the guy for posting it.
The fact is, Adams hasn't been back to Arsenal for anything (except Portsmouth duties) since leaving in 2002. That includes the Keown testimonial in 2004, the last game at Highbury in 2006, the Bergkamp testimonial in 2006, and now the statue unveiling (and presumably, the legends parade tomorrow too).
There are several other occurances where we've had legends back to visit that he's not been at too.
I'm sure he's a super busy guy, but would it trouble him too much to pop in once in nearly ten years since retiring? It comes across to me as if he's arrogant and wants nothing to do with the club.

Really, what's the defence of him?
Does seem strange- I'd have thought there was some reason the club werent inviting him (since ex players tend to love the chance to turn up) but since theyve done a statue of him it doesnt seem likely. Mind, if he was ignoring the club, surely theyd have just chosen someone else for the statue (like Bergkamp if they were going recent). Very odd tbh.

The Tony Adams hate I always read on here is pathetic. Fuck the haters.
Always? really?
Does any gooner on here hate Tony Adams? - and is it "always" posted on here... because, if so, I honestly have't noticed.
I think some take the piss and others suggest he's a card short of a full deck (which he probably is) but genuine HATE for Tony Adams?? - no chance. we must be reading different forums, Irish.
I doubt Tony will come back to the club whilst certain board members are there. It's explained on another thread by The Herd and Reg Niseth I believe. Look it up , it concerns the way the board treated a long serving employee of the club when we left Highbury. So I was told.

That's not a fact at all, Adams was working for the game in 2006 and couldnt get off. He has been back many times and as potter said above has fallen out with certain board members.
Anyway, if people think Adams doesnt care about Arsenal or the statue anymore, this will put it to bed:

exactly, we don't know what went on behind the scenes when Big Tone left Arsenal
[quote="Percy Dalton"]Jesus fucking Christ! Some people do like to amke an arguement out of nothing!
Noboday on here hates Tony Adams..........to pretend otherwise is just fucking daft.
People have the right to question his continual no-shows and his slightly weird take on life as if we are honest he does ahve his moments.
However, TA is a god and always will be.
Please, if you are going to pick an internet fight at least do it over something half sensible!

Spot on mate! IMHO nothing that TA does nowadays can detract from the legend status he quite rightly earned during is playing days. Ian Wright is another as to is Alan Smith

Wright, Bastin, McClintock, Bergkamp, Vieira, Brady, Hapgood, Seaman, Rocastle etc.
But we already have the 32 legends around the Emirates.
I think there should have been something to commemorate the 71 double side or McLintock as captain but I guess you could argue all week about who deserves a statue....................................
spoona wrote:McLintock should have been one, captain of our first double winning team, cant believe the 71' side has been overlooked.
Agree about the '71 side.....but we've been around for 125 years now and Adams is the first to deserve a statue....?
Don't get me wrong - I do think he deserved one - but there must be many who deserved one ahead of him. Still think its about time we forgave George Graham for one....
And Henry could sign for ANYONE in January......how embarrassing that could be!
