How anyone can look down their nose at signing Clint Dempsey when our number 2 and 3 strikers in the squad are the smoking Camel and SQ Park is beyond me.

If were being linked with Carl Leaburn or Brian Deane, I'd be more excited than thinking either of our current jokers were to wear the strip ever again

Vertonghen and TV5 would make a well tasty pairing at the back, yes, BUT what about Kos who has been awesome this season, and can only improve !

:? :rubchin:

See this is a point I have made many times too - I am not questioning the talent of the guy and if the rumours of his physical approach are true then that would be very welcome too, but I would have thought that we have other higher priorities in the team unless one of our centre backs is departing or unless he see's one of them playing in a different position like quartz has suggested :?
He's also able to play as left back and defensive midfielder. His technique is brilliant (for a defender at least). And btw he is by far superior to the Vermaelen who left us. And of course if you don't buy him your biggest rivals might buy him and I hate the idea of our former players playing for them

Exactly if we added up the Camel and SQ Park's combined tally for the next 5 years we'd struggle to get half that total

find that very hard to believe, the BFGs hardly made a mistake since Carrow Rd...

Agree totally mate - for all the talk about his lack of pace I don't think it has cost us one goal since he joined

Am keen on Vertonghen because of his versatility.
If Gibbs is out at left back Vertonghen can play there too, or in defensive midfield.
Gives us the option of using Santos left midfield on occasion.

I know people are concerned about players playing out of position, but I think there is a huge difference between that (i.e. Ramsey left midfield) and players who can genuinely play and feel comfortable playing in two or more positions.

Recently we have had good first teams, but little else.
Injuries and ACN call ups have depleted us further.
Next season we may get a good strong squad for the first time since 2006.

I didn't think it was possible to feel any happier than I already did today......but if there was any truth in this, I would be.

But the chance of Wenger admitting he was wrong with the German Willie Young is zero
