Ridiculous those who wrote him off after three games.
We can only hope that time spent with Henry on the Colney pitches will benefit Giroud further :D

I was one of those that called for more patience with giroud but at the same time I wouldnt call writing the guy off as any more ridiculous than calling for the return of a 35 year old
Augie, I'm not asking for the return of Henry on the playing role, but as he is training with us now I think his influence on players like Giroud could be very good. I have no desire to water down the legend of Henry but if we keep bringing him back to play I fear that could/would happen.

The comment wasnt actually aimed at you and was actually aimed at the countless others (some of which I would call sensible posters  ) but it was just convenient for me that your post allowed me the chance to bring it up again 8)

form turned on it's head:
that was Verminators best ever game for us at LB
and Rambo was excellent off the bench

FFS What so we shall forget his countless useless performances based on a game against clge cannon fodder. jd I have defended your rosetinted view of things in the past, but seriously your posts are becoming more and more of a redwumber nature everyday.

did you see the game?
did you read my post?

Rambo had a decent cameo, I was shocked.
That's all, do I want him to start v Villa? Of course not but he played well last night in the brief time he was on the pitch.
First time since the Citeh game, surely thats a good thing?

Thought Vermaelen still got away with a few cynical bodychecks that would have warranted a yellow from most PL refs. If Webb hadn't been such a generous bloke to Sandro's incessant fouling on Saturday it would have been ridiculous that he didn't book Vermaelen for bodychecking Lennon (twice) after getting skinned. He was pretty good apart from that last night but he certainly doesn't lose any of his rash decision-making when he's moved to left-back, give him an early booking and he'll be useless because his game is built around committing wholeheartedly to challenges he's not always favourite to win.

just the individual players form - yes the game was rubbish (1st half especially)
but I was simply posting the brightside there:
I thought Verminator just couldnt play leftback - he was very good there last night
Rambo put in a good shift, makes you realise what he must do in training to get a game

and as you say, great great hit for the goal

Vermaelen's performances have been no worse than most other members of our back line this season (Jenkinson and Sagna apart) - yes even everyone's new pet love Mertesacker (shit defending against Schalke, Norwich and Spurs amongst others). Koscielny played well last night too but on the back of some highly dodgy performances this season (his efforts at Reading far far worse than anything TV5 has done this season)

Last night TV5 was bloody awesome at left back both defensively and going forward. If people can't hold their hands up to that then it confirms what I thought i.e. certain people have turned him into the next scapegoat. Nice run and right foot cross for the goal. What's the alternative - stick that disgusting fat piece of dung in there so he can go half-time shirt chasing again

disagree, I think he's been poor for a while. Thats said, youre right Kos v Reading takes the prize for worst defensive performance of the season

the alternative is one of Bac or Jenks at LB IMO,
after that good shift last night maybe TV can do it
but Rambo played very well on the right last night,
that wouldnt be enough to make me pick him there

I wouldn't make Jenkinson play left back - he's just got himself up to a decent first team standard in his chosen position so asking him to make the transition to left back would be a bad thing IMO

Personally if its not TV5 there I would prefer to see young Miquel given his chance. He's an athlete but is never going to be a tough enough CB. When he's filled in there in the League Cup he has looked pretty good most of the time. Never really liked the idea of RBs playing LB or vice versa- remember when Nigel Winterburn did it in his first year when Sansom was around - it was painful viewing watching a bloke constantly dragging the ball on to his stronger foot

Having said that, if its Sagna or Jenkinson instead of that disgraceful Brazilian piece of lard then I'll take the pain :D
