Villa match thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'll be happy if we can do that, would be mission accomplished from first few games.
As much as some people pretend they want us to lose, I don't really believe when the games kick off that will be the case...
Who pretends that they want us to lose? Certainly not me, never have, never will. Wenger is a chapter in the club's history. The club will always be bigger than him......and to be honest as I've said many times, a man that can preside over more trophyless years than all of his recent predecessors and who can claim to have the proud record of our worst league defeat in a century, will never lose his job on the back of a couple of results anyway. As long as Kroenke's the majority shareholder and as long as Wenger creates wealth, individual defeats and winning trophies do not matter a jot

Perhaps Newcastle should have scored the phantom goal to make it 1-1.... it would have cut all this needless crap out in one fell swoop!

But then the world would end and we wouldn't be able to attract all of the world's most talented players?

Suarez's dream has always been to qualify in second place from the Group stage and experience a 4 goal mauling in Milan......competing to win the thing is just a sideshow

Well for what it's worth I will never subscribe to that view.....no matter how much Arsehole Wenker gets up my nose. Every bit as bad as the bloke you meet who says "Well I used to support........."

Yes exactly.... Wenger did exactly the same 2 seasons ago, waited until we were through the qualifiers, it does make a mockery of them celebrating and jizzing over each other at Newcastle when we finished 4th, he must have known then he wouldn't be buying anyone until September 1st... (if in fact he does)!!

The jizzing on Wenger's part is that it guaranteed his new contract and another 7m a year for 3 years to play with his little toy soldiers. On the players part it guarantees monster contracts for average players who would never get the opportunity to earn such riches at any other club. The top players of course see it as the bare minimum standard and fuck off a year or two later anyway

Probable team/bench

Szcezza
Sagna BFG Kos Gibbs
Rambo JW
Santi
Feo HFB Pod

bench
Ox, Jenks, Gnabry, Frimpong, Rosicky, Zelalem, Flappy

We miss Tets but is it that MUCH worse than: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Ramsey, Arteta, Walcott, Rosicky, Cazorla, Podolski.

Just the bench is weaker.
Subs: Fabianski, Vermaelen, Wilshere, Giroud, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gervinho, Monreal.?

0-0 same as Sunderland last year as they will put one player on the half-way line and 10 in their own half. We're not good enough to break them down and will waste the odd chance we get.

If we score more goals than Villa I'm confident we will pick up all 3 points 8)

If we concede less goals than Villa, I think we'll do OK as well :barscarf:
