FULHAM AWAY THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

We played into Villa's hands by playing too open, and giving their quick attackers time and space to hit us on the break.

It was a tactically retarded approach to the game. We'd basically decided to try and out score Villa rather than control the game. Idiotic.

indeed without a doubt our best striker, he absolutely put giroud and theo to shame today, great workrate and plays for the fans.

its funny how people see things different ways. i thought that was a great move and goal from sturridge, and the mickeys are playing some nice passing football.

I watched that Being Liverpool series last year, I rate Rogers after that. did a good job at swansea too.

I think they'll pip us to 4th.

a tactic fat lasagna boy used today against us.

thats why we thump poor sides. those that present us with two lines of four are a much stiffer challenge, one we usually fail.

I'm not disputing that the scousers are playing good football but villa are woeful and are making the victims look better than they actually are

I like podolski too but to say his workrate is faultless is perhaps a bit of a stretch. If his workrate were always faultless he would without a doubt be the first name on the team sheet. Unfortunately too often he just doesn't show and doesn't look interested and this gets shown up especially against the best sides.

I don't get some people here,we moan about headless chickens and god weve had a few ala gervinho etc etc who couldn't hit a barn door, then we have a proven finisher who may be a tad lazy at times but knows where the net is and we are still complaining ,id rather have 11 pods than 11 gervinhos, eboues etc etc

But that's the same as saying someone who suffers a bit from arthritis in their joints finds it preferable to having no limbs at all!! It's true but it doesn't mean that they shouldn't want to seek improvement in their condition if it's at all possible.

You might have missed the bit where I said I like podolski and Wenger has truly lost his marbles if he's considering selling him. You yourself seem to agree that he doesn't always show full workrate and commitment.

I would say with Podolski I am a lot more confident in having an end product - either a shot, a decent cross (he is one of the few of ours who actually looks up to pick out a player) than you are with a fair number of our other attacking options.

His tracking back isn't great at times, but he is physically strong in the challenge and shoots like Hotshot Hamish. :D

It is tough to hear old saggy chops state that "he thinks that we have played 2 weak teams, that we are still well short (of quality) and that we will struggle to get top 4 this year" - problem is that he isn't saying anything we ain't saying ourselves :(
