Re: Newcastle at Home, like
It has been the same for donkeys years now but at home an early goal just makes such a phenomenal difference to us, far more so than it does to other teams.
You could see us relax and grow in confidence after going 1-0 up. Our finishing at home has generally been atrocious recently but once the pressure was off yesterday we saw fantastic composed finishes from Welbeck (disallowed), Giroud and Cazorla. Newcastle were awful but after going ahead we were extremely comfortable, controlled the game without taking stupid risks and the only real worry was our complete inability to defend set pieces and Wenger deciding to keep Sanchez on for 87 minutes.
Despite our inferiority complex I think if we'd converted one of those early chances against United we'd probably have beaten them fairly comfortably. We are just so fucking fragile.

To add something about Welbeck - what has surprised me a little is how good his technical ability is. Allied to the fact that he contributed positvely to the attacking flow of the team - unlike a certain Mr S, who actively disrupts us.

Totally agree with that. It seems the players took great offence to that abuse, made it a bit more real and have reacted. That could be the season turning point.Herd wrote:Good win ,Im happy , missed the wenger tribute but its not surprising ,as Ive been telling you calling Wenger names at Stoke has backfired on the WOB.

They were always going to be out in force, the incident at the train station determined that.BFG4 wrote:I enjoyed the win today, but ultimately every win now comes with mixed feelings. The AKB'S were out in full force after today, these people are pathetic, it doesn't matter how many games we lose, doesn't matter the level of opposition, or the level of mis-management by Wenger, once we win, they are there to tell us how wrong we were about Wenger. It doesn't matter the fact that we are 13 points behind Chelsea, and haven't a hope of catching them, once we are in the race for the money league, then these people are happy
Good win, we looked decent for a change and all I hope is that the message has finally reached the players that it ain't good enough and also to the manager.
We seemed to press a lot better and looked determined.
The test will be on Sunday, if the message got through we won't go there and roll over like most of us expect they will.

Sorry mate but I think that's crap. Niall Quinn was banging on yesterday about how it was probably the players reacting because the manager was under pressure - it's bollocks.Nos89 wrote:Totally agree with that. We're not relegation fodder, we will still win games when on a poor run. We win games because we're still better than 16 or 17 of the other PL teams, despite what people sometimes claim. But every time we do win a game after a poor run people pipe up that the players did it for Wenger. Why didn't they turn up for Wenger against United then? He was certainly under pressure after the Anderlecht and Swansea debacles. I'll tell you why - because of our fucking powderpuff mentality. We played very well but ultimately we won because we were at home and Newcastle turned up and spread their arse cheeks. Had we been playing Chelsea, City, United or a tricky away game yesterday, we wouldn't have won.

Thought the performance was our best of the season (not particularly hard though)
Loved seeing both Gibbs and Bellerin quickly and powerfully win tackles and start off attacks.
Great to have Debuchey back as his physical presence has been badly missed.
If this win against a lack lustre Newcastle makes everything ok in the AKB world does the next defeat ( never too far away) mean that the WOB are actually right ?
We are still woefully short in key area's, have lost far too many matches with barely a wimper and are looking only capable of getting 4th now, with half the season still to play.
Still, that's the "forward" progress that we are making in Arsene's warped brain

Firstly, can I just say that Tiote is a despicable cúnt and always has been. Why the fuck didn't one of our lads put one through his fucking knee?
Anyballs, we played some great stuff, Giroud scored two very good goals, Santi one great goal, Welbeck was robbed of a great goal, Bellerin and Debooooochy played really well. Actually most of our lot played well, even Captain Stupid avoided too many brainfarts. The commentators gave me the shits though - a couple of wins against shit sides and all is well?

Re: Newcastle at Home, like
Funny how year in year out we can pretty much guarantee a win V Newcastle (Home) a loss to Stoke (Away) and a loss to Manure Citeh and Chavs (Away)
Didnt watch the match live, but the pen from Santi was great, at long last got rid of a nasty memory of Dwight York doing the same to us V Villa away some years ago for me.
Takes some nerve to do that sort of a pen, cant remember who but someone did that in the WC. Love Santis desire for goals, and at last he is getting back to his 2011/12 form. Like Rambo/ Wilshere, seems completely clear that Ozil and Cazorla cant play together and even if both are fit that alone seems to knock Santis confidence.
Still feel we would have been better selling him in the Summer, like a car over 1000,000 miles, an over 30 year old drops their value.

So, let me get this right!?

The more we abuse Wenger the more goals we score ergo - the more games we win?

Worth a hat-trick from Welbeck I reckon!

Worth a hat-trick from Welbeck I reckon!

If only it was that easy! Our players' new found "heart" usually only lasts one or two games.... and usually only against shit team, like.
