Being not bad is not good enough.Would you swap him for Aguero or Costa? No thats where the bar is set. He's a slow track bully. We can and should be signing a better quality strikerQuartzGooner wrote:What I took from the game is that Giroud is not bad.
He can be quite sharp, opportunistic and has turned into a bit of a poacher.
But he will have a game now and again where he is really poor.

Yes I would swap him for either of them.donaldo71 wrote:Being not bad is not good enough.Would you swap him for Aguero or Costa? But he represents value for money, based on his transfer fee.
Ideally we bid for Jackson Martinez this summer, though no guarantee he will workout.
Giroud would be second choice, but unlikely to want to sit on the bench.
Priority for me though would be defensive midfielder, left back, then centre back.

Good call Quartz...as okay Giroud is - we do have other players whom if not having to do a great deal of defensive duties because of the weaknesses in those 3 positions would be able to provide more scoring opportunities.....It is our defence that have been our down fall for quite a while now.
Agreed giroud isn't anywhere near Costa or Aguero - who ARE World Class - but we need to sort the defence foirst - then get in someone like Martinez or??????

He won't replace Giroud in the Summer, no way, I'm sure he's convinced that he's top class.
He would be a great back up striker.

Re: Q.P.R. (Away) Match Thread
At the moment, Giroud is integral to how we play. He isn't a top class finisher, but he has improved 100 percent since he has arrived. If we picked up another striker, we would still need one who could be the hold up player, or there will be a bedding in period where we start to play differently where people will probably moan about that said period. I don't mind him. Are there players in world football that are better - most definitely. But we won't be picking up anyone until probably summer of 2016 to replace Giroud. This summer's priorities will be midfield and defense, most likely.

If that wasn't a pen when Özil was dragged back by Henry then they may as well abolish the foul in the box law.

Absofuckinglutely. Clearest 100% penno I've ever seen.officepest wrote:If that wasn't a pen when Özil was dragged back by Henry then they may as well abolish the foul in the box law.

I can't believe I'm going to write this, seeing as I rate Ozil very highly and have defended him on here, but I watched the hour long highlights last night and I'm really struggling to see the marked improvement and great performance some on this thread claimed he had.

Don't get me wrong, I still think if Wenger built the team around him as the number 10 and played the system to suit Ozil we'd be a far better team and people would see just what he could bring to us, I still rate him as a top player, but I just didn't see any marked improvement in that 1 hour of highlights...

Mesut Ozil's reputation among some Arsenal fans as a lazy player has been disproved by stats which show that, since his return from injury, no Gunners player has run further. (Daily Telegraph)
