Re: The Ashes
Steve Smith makes an easy 100 and Rogers will be right behind him, both have batted very well. This is turgid shite from an England point of view.
Aus are 247 - 1.

Rogers follows Smith onto the honours board at Lord’s.

Re: The Ashes
Chris Rogers scores 150 of the easiest runs he’ll ever accumulate. Cardiff was an interesting test match as there was a good contest between bat and ball, this is just a batsman’s bore-a-thon.
Aus 1,789 – 1, or whatever.

Close of play: Australia 337 – 1.
A total dirge and a perfect example of why a lot of people don’t like test cricket. The ball did fuck all; barely caught the edge and hardly swung.
We’ll see where we are after England’s first innings but this pitch is a fucking disgrace. Hopefully the wicket will cut up and we’ll see something interesting as the game progresses but this is a piss-poor excuse for a wicket at the home of cricket.
Shite day of soporific pie-throwing.

From tomorrow its going to be fresher and more sunny. England historically haven't done well at Lords vs the Aussies so lets hope things are different this time.
Still praying for day 5 action in this Test Match. It looks like its pretty much sold out which is amazing. For anyone who hasn't been to Lords, it reminds me of Highbury in a way. It's steeped in history with very elegant stands, the atmosphere isn't as raucous as places like Edgbaston but its an amazing venue to watch cricket.
Also managed to get two tickets for day 5 for the Oval Test match for only £25. The last day of the series has produced some spectacular cricket in 2005 and 2009, would be so good to see the boys lifting the urn at the Oval!!!
Come on England!
Day 5 ? Might be lucky to get to day 3

Re: The Ashes
The chances of both teams playing exciting attacking cricket plus the test going the distance is pretty remote. More likely to get s turgid 5 day draw or an exciting 3-3.5 day game.officepest wrote:Close of play: Australia 337 – 1.

Test cricket is always going to have days and moreover tests like this. I say that without at all ruling out England collapses giving Australia victory but it's not great viewing to see a team pile on the runs on a wicket which offers no challenge or opportunity.

Re: The Ashes
Rain now forecast for Sunday with dry weather on Monday. FFS can't the weather people make their minds up!!!
If there is significant rain on Sunday it might save us. We are looking at a huge Aussie first innings total today.

Rogers has gone.
Hope Broad gets into the groove now.

Re: The Ashes
Sorry for the lack of updates, I’ve been a tad busy today.
Anyhoo; Aussie’s ponderous march towards a truly massive target continues unabated. Voges has just been dismissed off the bowling of broad, who has done very well considering the pitch is flatter than a sheet of paper.
Aus 426 – 4.
If I were a betting man, then I'd be laying money on the draw.

Re: The Ashes
Broad strikes again, with the debutant Marsh chopping onto his own stumps.
Aussie have lost their fifth wicket and another debutant, Nevill, is in next.

Re: The Ashes
Steve Smith hits a maiden test double-ton but he’s out now; Root has him trapped lbw for 215. He immediately reviews, but the decision stands.
I imagine Aus will declare around tea and put England in.
Aus 533 – 6; Mitchell Johnson in next.

Re: The Ashes
Root takes his second wicket with the dismissal of Nevill for a very useful 45 on debut.
Aus are 534 - 7 and Mitchell Starc is next in.
There are too many fucking Mitchell's in this Australian team.

Did the Aussie's even have the common courtesy to give your lads a reach around?

Re: The Ashes
Broad takes his fourth wicket right after tea, and the declaration swiftly comes. Australia finish on 556 – 8 after the dismissal of Johnson for 15.
England will need to produce something bordering on heroic to pull this one around.
