Re: Wenger Out protest, Tuesday 7th March.

Post by mzk90 »

I really think we need to be a bit cute & play the game on the protest. If we *word censored* Wenger off, it gives the pro camp & the media the chance to discredit what we do.

Look at the time for change protest and how much was made of 2 or 3 blokes singing on the Bear Roundabout about Wenger dying. Lost a lot of credibility with that.

We must be smarter than that.

Will it actually work this time. Every time a protest is talked about, and when it goes of without anything of note happening, it strengthens Wenger's position as it makes it look like those opposed to him are a minority.

It also needs to be visible and noteworthy. I say commence the march on kick off time against Bayern - miss the first 10 minutes and fill the ground late. It would be captured by the tv camera's, and the media and Wenger would have no choice but to acknowledge the protest. Imagine an empty stadium, filling up with the match already in progress.

Why cant this be achieved? For a club with the most influential social media presence, why cant an organized effort be arranged?

I agree that while not overstepping the mark it needs to be visible, audible and target-specific.

But the march needs to begin well before kick off to be in place at The Armoury by the time most people will be arriving and the pre-match coverage will be underway on TV. The best chance of persuading some of those turning up with tickets to go in late is by catching them up in the mood as they arrive, ie they will either see us or hear us from their arrival point.

A couple hundred people (even a thousand - if that many turn up) walking in late would not even be noticed. Have you been to the Conglomerates stadium? There are thousands of empty seats everywhere during that first 10 minutes while the late arrivers/early leavers arrive and then a couple thousand seats stay empty throughout the game... :|

And no it won't "work". A single protest won't do anything "of note", but it might start the ball rolling... might....

Lets just stick to what's been arranged... chopping & changing all the time is going to lead to a diluted fiasco. We get our banners, we get together and we march...this is ALL over social media, the press will pick it up. The only way it will work in the ground is if all of us are sitting together and you are protesting en masse in a concentrated block...but that isn't going to happen is it.....Plus once you get to the entrance your banner will be taken from you, especially if they know about us...and they do. Stay outside, they cannot attack us in the street in front of the press.

And let me just add I have no interest in spending money at the club, or watching us play or getting home at 3 in the morning

I think the original plan is spot on. Anything inside the ground will be met by disciples chanting his name and larger indifference from those who can't bring themselves to actively oppose him and will hide behind the reason of getting behind the team at games.

Nobody will notice people walking in late because it's the Emirates and that's what people do. Plus you won't get much interest from the broadcaster in showing anything other than the action on the pitch.

In this age of social media etc you don't need a Million Man March to get coverage. Couple of hundred people at a well-organis d protest will pique plenty of interest and hopefully Bayern will do the rest.

Sorry DB, that was in no way addressed to you, I just copied the thread...I think most people just wanna go with what is planned. It's early for a lot of people, myself included, but hey this was never gonna be easy, a bit of hardship is a minute price to pay...gonna need a crowbar to get this limpet out :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
