As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Debating this thread is pointless in itself tho. It's like arguing with a vicar about believing in God. You know he's wrong, but it's not like you're gonna get him to change his mind.

SORRY MATEY, THAT'S NOT FACT!! WE WON THE FA CUP IN 2005, AND STILL HAVE A CHANCE THIS SEASON OF WINNING A TROPHY. THEREFORE WE HAVE ACTUALLY GONE 2 YEARS WITHOUT WINNING SILVERWARE, NOT THE 4 YEARS YOU CLAIM.
NOW THAT IS FACT AND THEREFORE, AS YOU LIKE TO PUT IT, 'THE END OF THE ARGUEMENT'!!

Do we really want to end up like the Toon or the spuds, desperately going through manager after manager year after year and still with fuck all to show for it. Do we fuck...
I'd love to have a blazing row with DB one day, but I don't think I'd be able to. He could probably accuse me of bumping off Princess Diana and I'd agree with him!
In all seriousness, excellent point. Well put, old bean

Thank you kindly, sir! And you too IHH!
Well said Tony on the name calling too; top mod work! I hate that stuff. I think the thing here is we are all gutted by what has happened in the last month because we all care so much about this club. Tempers get frayed, people get upset and that's ok - it is a passionate game, but everyone has an opinion and should feel free to express it on here without being labelled a prick or something. What makes this forum so great is that most people on here will argue their point well, will stand their ground but will also respect other peoples point of view. Well, that and the tits, obviously...
BTW; TS, where exactly were you when Princess Diana was killed in Paris???
(sorry if that last gag offended anyone, no disrespect meant to a woman that did a hell of alot of great work for charity).
DB10GOONER wrote:BTW; TS, where exactly were you when Princess Diana was killed in Paris???
Don't you mean, 'died in an accident'?! Do you know something I don't, DB?!?!?! Whatever you do, don't being this thread to the attention of the Al Fayed family!
i wouldent get rid of wenger in a bilion trillion years but when he does eventully stop (unfortunately that day will have to come ) i like the idea of slaven bilic....
As for the signing of players all we need is a good wide player (left or right and doesnt have to be that expensive) and someone to replace Gilberto - we definately dont need any more strikers cause weve got
ADE (stop knocking him hes been outstanding this season and will only get better, he stepped up when asked and unfortunately),
RVP (one full season and hell show everyone why we didnt need to sign torres),
EDUARDO (incredible player, absolutley proves wengers point that you dont need to spend money to get quality - if he hadent got injured i dont think we would have been in the same position as we are now)
BENDTNER (still needs more application as andy cole? told him last season at birmingham but hes surely got a very bright future),
THEO (always looks good wen played through the middle and has got more goals/assists than Hleb this season, just beginning to look a very very good player indeed)
to be honest under the circumstances, wenger has made 2 mistakes in the last 2/3 years - letting go of pires who really could still do a job for us (think bergkamp at the end of his career) and persisting with eboue this season though next season he might turn into the right sided ivory cost version of ryan giggs (doubt it but you never know) If this season isnt ours - who the hell expected it to be in any case, then next season really fucking will be, this side have GOT IT, now theyve got the experience and soon they will have the silverware.

Look, I don't want to harp on about the "old days" and all that shite but I remember the underacheiving 70's and the fucking boring 80's and early 90's. We were shit nearly every year and fucking horrible to watch for a big chunk of that time. Wenger brought back huge success to this club, set records, re-invented English football as a true spectator sport and saved a club that was in real risk of dying on it's feet. We have been spoiled over the last decade (and rightly so, a club of our size and history should be massively successful).
Excellent post in all DB(and i agree with all you have written) , but the above point is one that interests me greatly - i wonder how many of those looking for Mr Wenger to move on are "younger" gooners ?

Wanted to leave and was hampering the team, retired, has gone on to worse things, refused contract. Either we attach electrodes to their body and force them to stay, break the 30+ contract policy or keep a man who can't get into the Inter team
Happened quicker then he might have liked but he has rebuild with a young team, I think they can go on to great things. You evidently don't think so but seems a bit harsh to blame Arsene for players leaving
I understand where your coming from on suggesting Arsene has stagnated and should leave but I see progress personally and think this will be his third, and last, great team.

I hope so Magic but to be a great team we have to win trophies.
Being happy by playing great football and winning nothing was always a sp*rs point of view wasnt it? It was always them lot that were on the verge of something great
I admire Spurs (I know, treason), for sticking to their football principles but bad boardroom's and constant changing of managers hasn't helped them. Difference between us and them is we have won a lot over the last decade and never been out of top four, till two season ago we hadn't been out of top two under Arsene, whereas Spurs have been midtable cup winners. Think we have more reason to be optimistic then they do
I 100% agree with everything said by DB10, IHH and TS above. Won't bother quoting. Arsene must stay and he will deliver. We are still in with a shout of 2 trophies this season.
I remember immediately after the 2001 cup final against Liverpool there were a whole bunch of people saying AW had to go. Think what we would have missed.
AW ain't stupid and it has been said on here he is a proud man. He will be gutted by what has just happened and be planning the way through and probably will buy a few key players. Have faith we will have more silverware soon.
I also remember the sterile days and would not want to go back there. 1-0 to the arsenal became our chant beacause that is what we did week in week out. Now it is an ironic chant before we go on to score 3 more.
The scousers are also having a difficult moment and it might just work in our favour. Knocking Chelsea out of the CL semi final would be good revenge.

IRONICALLY, THE IMPRESSION I GET IS THAT IT SEEMS TO BE THE OLDER SUPPORTERS THAT ARE SHOWING THE IMPATIENCE WITH WENGER, NOT THE YOUNGER ONES.

Funny you're quoting this article as it clearly states that Wenger HAS TO change his philosophy or else we wont win league for years to come...and by 'philosophy; he means: not spending money and trying to convince us (and himself) that you can win league with 18yr olds and £500 000 players...this summer is his last chance to strengthen the squad wiuth some REAL class, otherwise we'll fall far behind ManUre and Chelsky and not even 3/4 spot is going to be guaranteed...
If you go back and read what DB10 said you will see that there is nothing contradictory here. What is being said is that things need a bit of a kick in the pants at the moment, including some new faces, and that Le Boss is the man to do it.
