THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

And who the fucks fault is that!?

One F'ing Guess. :cussing:

mmm, only at arsenal can anyone not question this young kid playing so many games, and some claimed he was vermaelen's replacement.

The way I see it young players give Arsene an excuse not to judge him and the team too quickly, fans lap it up and say don't worry this kid will be great in 5 years time, so it doesn't matter that he is inadequate right now.
Just like the year he left us exposed in midfield and in Jack's first full season he played 49 games. Sure enough, inevitable injury followed with him missing almost a year's football and then suffering a massive drop in form and confidence.

There's Only One.......truly gifted at repeating the same mistakes year in year out

Wenger was suggesting that having to play CL qualifiers may have contributed to our injuries. Who's fault was it that we finished 4th and had to go through the qualifying round?

Does Wenger actually believe the bullshit that he spouts?

Now that our Lord and Master has adopted royal status at the Bowl, I presume that we get the King's speech at 3pm tomorrow on pravda ?

No mention of an "annus horribilis" for him - just a wish for Financial Fair Play to all man

We are really missing him in completing our line up of injuries, the guy hasnt played a minute for Barca since signed. :barscarf: :barscarf:

It was utterly insane of AW not to sign a CB with Kos as he was. Would have taken anyone (Bar Rio ferdipoo  )
In fact with the African cup of nations affecting Citeh and shammers and a proper transfer policy and defensive coaching we should have breezed 2nd or first last as well as this year. :banghead:
He is so transparently loosing it. he actually is starting to look old too I think. 30 years of stats on tippy tappy numbers must have got to him.

GoonerMuzz wrote:Slightly off topic here but I believe over the last 15 or more years there is actually a problem in football as a whole though not just in our house, remember the days when you had proper journeyman players who spent time in the lower leagues battling to prove themselves worthy of a place amongst the footballing elite. Nowadays youngsters are plucked into the great academies of the footballing world long before they've had a chance to mature and learn their trade, the academies do not seem capable of teaching certain aspects required in general football, strength, tenacity, stamina etc. It is incredibly rare now to find a real old school powerhouse coming out of the modern academies.
A very good point, maybe lost in the madhouse of pros searching through this thread of sanity though. I would also add that the focus on stats of touches in the game miles run etc also have perhaps eliminated some players who should have made it, you only need 3 touches and 300 yards run to get a hat trick after all. I sometimes wonder if the injuries are partly because we like frequent ball passers touchers, and lo they get chunks out of them in tackles

There really need not be discussion on the multiple shortcomings of our 'manager' anymore. It has all been said and said again thousands of times. He is so poor now, and so out of his depth, that to think otherwise is purely the preserve of the deluded. Sad but true.
this!! we are all going around and around in cirles on this forum,in the end we will all become as mad as Wenker himself :banghead: :banghead:

Wenger is just someone who gets to stay on his job because of his past glory. Everyone at the club listens to him and he do whatever he wants. A bunch of blind sheeps stood up for him whenever he gets attacked. He knows he is the untouchable and in fact the only untouchable at the club. Damn look at what we have become. We are not a football club anymore. We are the mini North Korea.

1. Stubbornness in the transfer market, taking the form of: refusing to match a modern price for a footballer, offer them a competitive wage or buy a surplus of first-team quality rather than the bare minimum.

2. Mental frailty/inability to inspire his players. His comments about being intimidated at Stoke, last year's Anfield result affecting this year's performance and the lack of energy displayed by his team in the first 20 minutes of matches being examples. Players lacking "fighting spirit" and not sticking up for each other when the game gets particularly feisty.

3. Tactical naiveté. Openly admitting that he does not take the opposition into account when creating a plan for a match. Having both full backs in the opposition half when defending a 3-0 lead or when behind 1-0 in the 75th minute to a team that you know can hit you on the counter. Having no plan B.

4. Extreme hubris in his manner of thinking and opinion of what football should be like as well as extreme indignation towards anyone that disagrees with or challenges him to defend his decisions.

5. A near pathological use of tangential excuses (pitch, referee, fixture scheduling, weather, club finances, etc.) for his underachievement the past 9 seasons.
