As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
That is a blatant plant by West Ham to get us to drive the price up.
And you don't think City will drop £110m on Rice within 24 hours? As usual we open with a piss take offer, and get snap rejected.
West Ham doesn't care who Rice goes to, they want the most money. The only thing that would get Rice over to Arsenal is if he says he only wants to join us. Even then, just fucking pay £100m and move onto the next target.
EXCL: Arsenal have made opening offer to sign Declan Rice from West Ham. Tim Lewis & Karren Brady held talks at PL AGM (though Edu + Richard Garlick leading process). Man City now actively exploring own approach for 24yo @TheAthleticFC #WHUFC #AFC #MCFC
City will buy him to stop us improving. That’s how fucked football has become. They don’t even need him.
Let them buy everyone and win the treble treble. It seems the only way things will change will be when people start switching off
Given a choice between signing rice for 90m-100m and havertz for anything above 30m or signing absolutely nobody, my preference would be signing nobody - all this bu!!shit talk in recent weeks about how AFC were going to buy big this summer, and yet these two c.unts are the best we can come up with ??? Do me a fcuking favour FFS
So the fact city, Madrid and Bayern are looking at both players doesn't tell you they might be better than average ?
You say that like big clubs dont ever sign average/shit players ? Bayern have had a player that was shit at stoke as one of their top 2 strikers in last couple of years
Secondly, a good few years ago real madrid had an unofficial transfer policy known as "the zidanes and pavons" - basically it was a recognition that they hadnt the money to buy all top quality players (zidanes) and that they would need to supplement their squad with a mixture of homegrown players and cheaper signings (pavon). This in my opinion is what they are doing here - real spunk massive money on bellingham and still need a striker and are looking at the chavs as a club that need to sell and they might get a player there for reasonable money. Clubs like bayern and real madrid can do that kind of thing easier than us cos they are competiting in leagues where they basically have only one real club competing with them so they will get away with average/shit players in a lot of games - we compete in a league where there could be as many as 6 or 7 teams competing at the top, and where the drop off to the rest of the teams isnt as steep either, so we cant get away with playing donkeys like the portugese pussy.

What world are we living in where 90 million is a piss take offer

Of course they do but City rarely do and you can gurantee if we don't get rice city will snap him up.

They spent £50m on kalvin phillips last summer and I think scott carson had as much game time as he had
City can afford to spunk out huge money on players and leave them rotting in the stands cos money is no object - I'm hoping that the rice scenario falls like the mudryk one did in that our interest ends up driving the price up and one of our rivals ends up wasting money on him. We havent got wealth that city do, and overpaying on rice takes money away from another area/position that needs strengthening too

Come on, who is WUMing now? You go on about Xhaka, but wouldn't take Rice? £90-£100m is a lot but its for an established England international playing in the Premier league, it is the market rate.

They tend to shop in the £50-£60m range, Grealish aside. I would be a bit shocked if they did drop this much on one player even though they can afford it.
I think we want to spend a bundle but I can already see us being played like a fiddle by anyone we want a player from.
Bellingham joined madrid for an initial £92m fee rising to possible £115m with add ons, and the shammers want £100m for rice ??? If we are being played it is because we are bending over to get played I said on here a few weeks back that I would like for us to have put in a proper bid for bellingham - I'm not saying for one second that he would pick us over madrid, but lets at least send up a public flare on our ambition, and if nothing else it might rise the price and force rivals clubs to bid more than they want to. However instead we choose to go for the inferior of the two players, and look like we are going to have to pay more for the privilege

why on earth would we bid for a player who clearly didn't want to join us?

Arsenal will bid again after advantage on personal terms discussed with Declan Rice. No doubts. #AFC
Gunners consider £80m opening bid as way to start concrete negotiations with West Ham but also know timing will be crucial to avoid hijacks.
Bit more on #AFC's bid for Declan Rice.
Arsenal wanted to pay £80m over six years w/ a further £10m in add ons. West Ham viewed the add ons as unrealistic and rejected the first bid. 2nd bid still expected and Rice still keen on Arsenal.
