|| Arsenal aren’t “advanced” with Roméo Lavia but progress is being made with Southampton and they’re seeming likely to be his next club [Via - @MiguelDelaney].
|| Arsenal want to make Declan Rice & Roméo Lavia their new midfield for next season [Via - @MiguelDelaney].
I'm sure someone mentioned Lavia as a potential good buy , I know nothing about him ?

Been away since Monday and just got back and what do I see? We're looking likely to sign Kai Havertz!!!!!
WTF??!!! Why sign a bloke that's been an unmitigated failure at the chavs? How many more times do we have to buy their cast-offs and has beens?? For fuck sake. I wouldn't want him at any price, but I see reports of 80 million....I'm out of the loop, so I hope that's wrong, but knowing us it won't be.
Even though our season imploded, I was able to build some optimism that we're heading in the right direction and that making the right additions in key areas (still 2 centre mids and a striker imo) could see us begin to challenge consistently, but as always, we're gonna fuck it up.
Rice is not a £100 million player, even in today's madly inflated market. He's an average to slightly above average fish in a very small pond. He won't move us to the next level, which is to perform as a solid top 4 club and hold our own in the CL. I read the previous page on here and see that SteveO questions why some of us criticise spending big numbers on Rice, but not on Caceido. All I'd say is that I've seen more than enough of Rice to know that he's a 40 million player at best. I haven't seen much at all of Caicedo and can't honestly say he's worth 80-100 million, but from the little I've seen, I'd prefer him to Rice, so if it's crazy money on either, then I'd go for him. Call it football instinct, but I've a feeling from what I've seen that we're gonna regret him being another one that got away.
Added to this, we're in for Havertz. Fuck me, why?? What has there been over the last 2 or 3 years to suggest to Arteta and Edu that he's about to come good?? We've needed a proper, dynamic, 20+ a season goalscoring striker for years and they're going after Kai Havertz!! FFS. Two bob prats. I'm fucking furious.
Just when I'm feeling we might finally be getting somewhere, wallop, brought crashing back down to earth. Shit house outfit, fuck 'em.

Salah and De Bruyne were shite at Chelsea too
Well, that's one way of looking at it Mc, but neither was given a chance on the Chelsea merrygoround. For what it's worth, I was saying to a mate of mine that we should buy Salah when he was at Basel. I watched him destroy the scum in the Europa league in both ties and he looked the business. A year later the chavs bought him. I should scout for the Arsenal.
And I make you right - I hate the whole stats based assessments that we use with footballers nowadays, but just look at the number of league goals this fella has scored in his last 5 or 6 seasons, and I think you will find no-one capable of putting up an argument for spending anything above 40m for havertz

40 million Augie?? Fuck me, I wouldn't want him at any price. I am genuinely shocked that we're in for him, although I know I shouldn't be. We claim to be aiming to compete at the top level, yet buy up the cast offs of those we're supposedly competing with. Says it all.
We must be the first mugs that the transfer dept at chavs and City call when they've got some "not quite good enoughs" and washed up has-beens to unload. I can picture it now, the bloke making the pitch to us about Havertz and how he's about to really explode onto the scene, while silently shushing all his colleagues to be quiet as they're all suppressing roaring laughter. We take the bait, he puts the phone down and they all erupt into raucous laughter, cheers and high fives, pissing themselves for mugging us yet again.
Fuck me, buying the losers that our main rivals don't want. 2nd tier outfit.
Never mind, there's always Declan Rice to cheer us up.

I hear you buddy cos I too wouldnt want him at any price, but my argument was that he isnt worth over 40m for a club that does want him even
I've consistently said, a weak manager prefers a system where there are no leaders in the squad and everyone is on same level and nobody rocks the boat - that is the culture arteta is building at AFC and why we will not even see those TA6 characters under his regime. If he was going to buy a striker this summer it needed to be a 20+ goal a season striker, but such a move would unsettle jesus and that wont be allowed happen

Yep, bang on, he's a Wenger clone. Doesn't want strong characters that might question something, but wants nodding yes men and good boys. It's another reason why the useless but crafty fucker Xhaka has hung around for so long, because he worms his way in with the boss and Wenger and Arteta love that.
They're usually vindictive characters as well and Arteta seems to have that about him. You and I both rated Guendouzi, especially given the dross we had in midfield, but he fell foul of the Basque and got forced out. Imagine last season with him in Xhaka's place. Mind you, that wouldn't have happened even if he was still at the club....Xhaka was dropped for no one.
