I see that everton want bendtner on loan

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... dtner.html

I want him out of the club badly but not on loan - sell him for 8m-9m and get shot of him cos otherwise if he flops on loan we are faced with the same scenario next season and it will be even harder to sell the *word censored* Of course selling him would bring in extra funds for arsene to spend  :banghead:

How's about this for a shock folks......ivan has come out and said that he is backing wenger    :banghead:

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 84,00.html

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis supports manager Arsene Wenger's desire to retain star duo Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.

Fabregas is once again being linked with a move to Barcelona, while Nasri has been tipped to leave Emirates Stadium as he is now in the final 12 months of his Gunners contract.

Barcelona ace Xavi recently claimed Fabregas told him he was 'suffering' over his failure to re-join the Catalan giants, however, Wenger insists his targets are to 'keep' his players.

When questioned whether the likes of Fabregas and Nasri could be sold by Arsenal, Gazidis believes Wenger is the voice of Arsenal and that he is not prepared to add any more fuel on the fire.

"We don't conduct our business in public," Gazidis told Sky Sports News. "I don't intend to put my voice into the mix.

"Arsene has been very clear and explicit on all of those subjects. I'll leave the voice of Arsenal to be his."
Funds
Gazidis did confirm the club do have funds to strengthen and that the north Londoners are determined to become winners on the pitch and end their six-year trophy drought in the process.

Whereas other clubs are looking to fill gaps vacated by retiring players Arsenal are not looking to plug holes in Wenger's team, just enhance the strength in depth the Frenchman already possesses.
"We do have money we can spend," added Gazidis.

"The challenge for us is a little bit different than some of the other clubs, we don't have positions where players are coming to the end of their careers and positions where there are holes.

"We have to find players who can improve on some of the positions that we currently have and add some depth.

"We want to be winners. We want to be trophy winners.

"There's a relentless focus on doing things we need to do to achieve that, but we also have to do them within the bounds of a sensible football club."

The highlighted parts are most disturbing -

"wenger is the voice of Arsenal"   :banghead:

That is an interesting point you have made Augie.

Myles Palmer on arsenal news review made a similar point two weeks ago. That Gazidis is slick, and he is putting it in the public's mind that "Arsene Wenger = Arsenal".

Palmer reckons this could be a smart way of distancing himself from Wenger, and if there are failings with the team then the cause is Wenger, and only Wenger.

I can understand Gazidis supporting Wenger in trying to keep Cesc as I think we will really miss him and no matter what amount we get for him with regard transfer fee we won't spend it.

But the Nasri issue is absolutely ridiculous and I cannot for the life of me understand the logic in it.

The argument that we don't want to stregthen one of our rivals is ridiculous as they will get him free next year which in essence is actually beneficial to our rival.

At least take some wonga off the *word censored*

Given is passed it now. Unless he was about 1M or 2M I wouldn't bother. He's hugely injury prone plus City wouldn't sell to anyone in the top 5 or 6.

Villa would have been better off with Rob Green.

I'm happy with our keeper options as they are, we needed Given 2 years ago. I don't think we need someone that has been sat on a bench for 12 months.....WHAT WE NEED IS A ****ING CENTRE BACK and left back (my money is on Gibbs (who I do think deserves to be given a chance) getting injured days after the transfer window closes, probably during England training).

Shez is a future star.....or at least looks like he will be the real deal....but it is a hell of a lot of responsibility to put on his young shoulders...and he's bound to suffer one or two (hopefully Only) minor injuries during a season...and who fills in then?

Mannone!???
Flappy!???

We still need to bring in a goalie who has vast experience - which he can pass on to Shez..and on occasion share the goalkeeping duties..without the disasters we have experienced these past 6 seasons...given would suit or schwartzer....but not someone who will prevent Shez from getting games on a regular basis...its a tricky one  :?

That's as good as said no new first team defenders, no new defensive midfielder just a lot of cheap dross to replace the failed dross.

I agree, It's a proper tough one. Mannone and Flaps are poor keepers in my opinion.

Not too many big experienced keepers still around. Loads of youngsters that don't improve what we already have.

We all know that it's going to be those 3 keepers and a roll of the dice everytime a shot/corner/cross comes in!!

Crying over spilled milk, but Given was available after Lehmann looked finished with us, in the summer of 2007.

That was the time to get him, and he could have been ours for £5million.

And also allegedly The Arsenal had a transfer kitty of £70 million in the summer of 2007.

Now he is past it, but just think if we had bought him it would have been perfect for Chesney, who would have been able to learn from an experienced player, instead of Almunia, and would now be ready to slot in.

They are just reviewing the regional papers on SSN. The back page of The Bolton Evening News headline is,"Wenger closing in on Cahill."

Yeah I fancy us to get Cahill too. We have a good relationship with Bolton (the club, not the fans! ). John Cross reckons we will sign Cahill too. Would be a good signing.
