Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

So he's gone? Oh, what a fucking surprise that was, eh? Just like Henry, Vieira, Cesc, Clichy, Greedybayore and Nasri- denied all the way through till the very end. He should have been sold in June or July and been done with but as always with this club it all just rumbles along until August.

There is no point even speculating about what Wenger and Gazidis will do with the money because the answer is nothing. As far as they are concerned it goes towards paying for the summer's purchases not buying new players. The writing was on the wall that coffee meeting ended back in June, he was going, the club knew it but did their usual bollox about pretending it was all going to be ok in the end.

It's just dawning on me that this financial institution we put our money into has got a really serious footballing problem. If I was in charge I'd stop the works team as it obviously gets in the way of the business.

Citing ambition is one thing, but transferring to a team who:

1. Won no trophies last year
2. Finished below us in the FA and Carling Cups
3. Finished below us in the UEFA Champions League
4. Had made fewer off-season acquisitions for weaker players this summer

Is insulting.

Thanks for the memories Robin, but what a shame this is. You've given up the chance to become a cult hero with this club for a few $$$ more a week so you can go be buddy buddy with wankers like Evra, Ferdinand and Rooney. I hope you don't win sweet fuck all.

How can people not boo this twat? He claimed to love this club and then fucks off to one of our biggest and most hated rivals, he's worse than Cole and anyone else. Biggest backstab in our history.

Probably not far off the mark with this mate. We all get excited because we finally get some talented signings, take two step forward, and then take two steps back by losing a couple important players (though I'm still not Song's biggest fan).

Ugh.

And right after all the season tickets are renewed, just to make things look even more suspect...

Not at all surprised. Just really fucking fed up with the way this club is run. Every summer losing our best players, letting contracts run down, no problem selling to our biggest rivals, not reinvesting profits from player sales and rewarding absolutely shit players.

And yet we continue to give them more and more money! When the fuck will we wake up and make our voices heard?

Echoes my thinking.

Just hope we can bring in a striker on loan to cover Afobe's loan year.

How much longer will fans blindly support a club whose only ambition is to make a profit?? There has NEVER been a clearer indication of a clubs total surrender than selling RVP to Utd. I'm only surprised Arsenal don't have an Ebay shop with some 'buy it now' options on Theo and the others. Thank fuck Jack is injured or else he would have been sold.......but of course he'll go next year.....and he'll want to as well.

People blaming Wenger/the board, obviously I agree we shouldn't have sold this twat to them, but did we actually have much choice? Of course there's always a choice, but no-one else would match our valuation for him. He wanted to go to them over everyone else, and we would have risked him sulking around the pitch all this season and walking away for nothing next summer. Yes there is some fault towards the hierarchy and I feel sick right now but our hands were tied.

Aim all vitriol towards the *word censored* for the time being.
