just like arseblog pointed out today, almunia is a good shot stopper, as good as almost any keeper in the league. however, we need a commanding keeper, like lehmann and seaman, that can organize the defense and give confidence to the defenders. i don't care what we'll do about our 4 goalkeepers, stick them in his ass if he wants, but we need a new one, experienced and good enough.
i am indeed a member of the 'arsene knows' brigade, but i'll be furious if we start the season with flappy in goal. it's unnaceptable and ridiculous.
Furious.... steady on there, old bean !!!
if I'll be furious, i can't imagine how augie and donaldo will be

I think they'll both go on a killing spree mate, even I'm thinking along this line, I'll start with a pair of dopey looking gits, both with dodgy haircuts, who pretend they're goalkeepers, I'll go down in Arsenal folklore!!!

Bordering on suicidal mate
I have said it before and I will say it again that if nuttypaul is correct and wenger doesnt sign a keeper then wenger can go fcuk himself off the nearest mountain top My feelings alternate between disgust, embarassment, resentment, bitterness and of course downright anger at this bullshit policy that wenger continues with and the board tolerate How much longer will fans stay loyal to wenger while this shite continues ? Have seen many on here express feelings of real anger and dispair but are these feelings strong enough to revolt and protest at or before a game ? It is all well and good getting petitions together but an organised fans protest gets the message over in a much stronger way and is more public which sometimes is the way to go.
Right now I am hoping that we beat blackpool (obviously) at the first home game of the season but not before almunia/fabinski makes at least 1 major fcuk up along the way - I can just hear the chants "spend some fcuking money"
but augie, im afraid those chants won't happen...i just cant see it. even in some of the dire performances last year there was still the only one arsene wenger chants....the emirates crowd is too 'timid' (for want of a better word) to chant against the club. a few boos yes but as long as there scraping results there wont be significant dissatisfaction expressed

Exactly what augie said. How the fuck do we all go into a season with these feelings? The beginning of the season we should all be behind our team 100%, feeling confident. Then come mid season and we fade a bit we start having our doubts and if the shit hits the fan, we make up our excuses at the end of the season - The "if onlys" and "could have been if it wasn't for....", it now seems we go into the season with these excuses already, FFS I feel embarrassed already and the season hasn't even started.
The other side of the story, is that people say that the board has the final say on transfers. Wenger should have the balls to tell them who/what he needs, 'cos after all it's his "reputation" thats on the line. I seriously doubt that scenario though, I am really starting to believe that Wenger thinks this club is just a project
Sorry for the non-stop rant, but I have to add - WHAT IF BARCELONA DID HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO BUT CESC THIS SEASON - How FUCKED would we be right now

i was thinking just the same, i want us to beat liverpool by 4-3 and blackpool 5-4 with MAJOR fuckups from our keepers
but maybe even that won't be enough for the boss to realise that we FUCKING NEED A NEW FUCKING GOALKEEPER, FOR FUCKING FUCKS SAKE!!!!

I have made this point many times over the past 18-24 months cos wenger built a title winning side there before also dismantling it in favour of younger players and was eventually sacked when they slipped down to 7th (I think) in the french league A leopard never changes it's spots
Brazilian you are probably right that even more keeper screw ups and a strong fan protest would not convince wenger to buy but thinking from a purely selfish point of view I really really really want wenger and the board to feel the full wrath of the fans before it is too late - fcuk redaction and their "only 1 arsene wenger" :finger:
Even the rose-tinters and AKBs have to acknowledge now that Wenger is being a stubborn, arrogant fool who having taken this club forward is now dragging it back again.
Indefensible to go into a new season with Fab/Almunia as main keepers and only a lightweight, unproven second divison French player and a crooked Djourou to support TV.
I'd like to think that when we fuck up badly this season that'll it'll be Wenger's last but I seriously doubt that.

He's into his last year on his current contract. For me, if he doesn't produce this year, then I don't really see the need for him to sign a new deal. Cesc will be off either way and someone new can come in and try to get this team to where it needs to be.
EDIT: Just as a side note, I've defended Wenger on this forum many a time but I just can't see any new signings coming in before the start of the new season.

ARSENAL TO SIGN MOLDOVAN KEEPER ON THURSDAY
(AP- MOLDOVA – Aug 4) Arsenal’s bid to sign the talented Moldovan international goalkeeper Nilain Levroji in a bid to solve their ongoing goalkeeping crisis moved closer last night with the talented stopper flying to London for a medical.
The 23-year-old from Iskra-Stal Ribnita will join the Gunners in a €5million deal to be completed on Thursday.
Levroji has played twice for the Moldovan national team but has been rated as one of the top young keepers in European football.
News of his transfer to Arsenal was confirmed on Moldovan TV yesterday (Sunday).
Arsenal had been expected to sign Australian international goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer from fellow London team Fulham but the deal has fallen through with the West London club demanding €4million for the 37-year-old.
Levroji will join fellow Eastern European Emir Spahic at the Emirates Stadium for the new season.
Arsene Wenger has confirmed he is looking to bring in at least one more defender
