THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

hell i'd probably prefer if they did a line or two before the game...be nice and pumped up and ready to go :barscarf:
I couldn’t give a toss if a player smokes, so long as he’s able to do his job. I’ve listed a few before, so won’t again, but the list of world-class players who have been smokers is as long as a line of lung cancer sufferers at an oncologists ward.

And who could seriously give a bollocks if a goalkeeper likes a tab, seriously?

Tbf marky, how do you think that you would react if your team-mates dad slagged you publicly in the national media ? There is nobody here that will disagree with much of the content of what he said BUT, as long as Chesney is at the club he should not be the one to say it. I know that if I was a defender in the current squad, then the very least I would expect is an apology from Chesney himself when he turns up for training next - his father has basically tried to hang out all of his team-mates in an effort to protect his son and that can divide a dressing room very quickly.
thing is though augie it seems anybody famous who has a dig gets a bad press here,Merson gets called a Chav,Stewart Robson had an agenda,Piers Morgan is a twat, the list goes on,this is what my gripe is about.in my opinion anybody be they ex Arsenal or ex pro or celeb or players parent who publicly slams Le Cock isdoing the same as us lot and is fighting our corner
Merson is slagged off because he is the Classic Wenger defender. Occasionally very critical but normally of 'Arsenal' or 'the club' in the abstract. People like him are more damaging than lunatic AKBs.

Piers Morgan is either slagged off for being a flip flopper, or along the lines of he's a *word censored* but he's right about Wenger.

Robson is only slagged off by the AKBs.

The point about Szczesnys dad is that he is not slagging off Wenger, he is defending his twat of a son who at the moment is as bad as anyone else. If he was actually slating Wenger I'd be happy but he's just protecting his prick of a son.

Wenger has created a monster with the Szczesny situation. Wenger has allowed Szczesny to do what he wants for ages, including moronic selfies after games, continuous stupid comments to the media and allowing him to become unbelievably arrogant, and now his dad is having a pop at his son's teammates. Its like the teacher who allows you to do what you want in class, you don't respect that teacher at all.

If Kane does go on and become another sensation then at least we can claim him as part of our Virtual XI as well

Judging by the press conference earlier, he has the media wrapped around his little finger again.

Going nowhere until at least 2017! :barscarf:

As others have alluded to, the same failings have been endlessly debated with no change, that it is just like being in limbo. I'm honestly more excited about Green Bay vs Dallas (and the other NFL playoffs) this weekend than the Stoke game. It's a first and it saddens me that is how I am feeling about Arsenal currently.

Podolski on Wenger:

"He said nothing to me. He did not call me or say goodbye. I don’t need flowers or a kiss from him. But it is about respect, about saying goodbye. For me respect is important. I did everything for the club I possibly could have. I don’t believe I did anything wrong. I did not get drunk in a club.I wish all of Arsenal and their amazing fans the very best for this season and I see myself as a Gunner. Nothing from him to me, though, but that is his way."

Common courtesies such as "goodbye" and "thank you" are apparently beyond Lord Wenger. No decorum at all. Prick.

It's amazing how much contempt Wenger seemed to show towards Podolski almost immediately after he arrived right after giving him a 100k contract. Just confirms once again that our scouts are terrible and Wenger himself doesn't even bother analyzing players before buying them anymore.

Just a lack of common decency. As Podolski said (if that quote is correct) he's not done anything wrong. If he was one of Wenger's favoured misfits like Eboue or Denilson then Arsene would have thrown a huge party and written him the best reference anyone has ever seen.

What a wanker. Getting rid of a popular, good-quality player whilst keeping that *word censored* Diaby on.Chesney smoking in the bogs, Mertesacker talking to the press, they don't listen to him any more. How can anyone respect this prick?

Maybe Wenger didn't buy him.
Maybe similar to Jeffers and Wright, who Wenger allegedly didn't buy, but were bought to appease the fans wish for english players.
Õzil and Alexis also don't seem to fit the wenger mould.
I don't know what's happening at our Club, but it is quite clearly rotten from top to bottom.
Even our second biggest share-holder, who's not allowed to be a part of it, is rotten.
Wenger Out. And Kroenke. And Usmanov.
Ain't gonna happen any time soon thougn, and even if all 3 happen, what then?

The reason our defence is shit? Well, naturally it could never ever be Wenger's fault of course. Apparently it's society's fault for cultivating a "less intense desire" and for introducing better, less muddy pitches for youngsters to play on
