THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

He's only been a manager for half a season over here.
Any possibility of seeing him tested before we make a a judgement, maybe dealing with an injury list that we have faced!?!??!
Are you saying we need to wait and judge him in May?
The facts are clear, he's already managed in that half season what our resident fuckwit ain't managed in about a decade ie a win and a clean sheet at OT. There's also the obvious point that Wenger has given us 10 years of shite so he's proven to us for certain he's garbage
Like all good Wenger call centre Samaritans, you've rolled out the classic "injuries" excuse LOL
Everyone knows the Arsenal injury list stems from gross mismanagement, and besides, when your wage bill is over £150m you're supposed to mitigate for injuries. Then again, why am I even bothering to discuss this with one of Arsene's mistresses eh?
As for Simeone, he managed to win a league title against the 2 biggest teams in the world without once bitching about "financial doping" or cowering in his dugout cos some fans might say howwible things about him. No matter what u say about your Messiah, he is and will remain, an unflushable turd in a rather large toilet bowl....
:D

this is koeman after beating United at OT (whereas we lost 2-0 at home) :
"You analyse your opponents," said Saints boss Koeman.

"You know they have difficulties building up with three centre-backs. We have had good organisation all season."

Koeman added: "We now have 11 clean sheets in 21 games and that is key to being successful."
koeman is not a god, just a normal manager.

this time next week we'll likely be sitting 6pts behind southampton after 22 games, and 4 behind the worse united side in a generation.

yay us eh ? :barscarf:

He was a lazy *word censored* who could never be relied upon, he gave zero support to his full back.
His complete lack of tactical nous will be highlighted further in Italy.
Wenger did well to get rid of him.
For once I'm in full agreement with you. I've never understood the Podolski love in on this forum but then again bar Sánchez and Cazorla I'm not a huge fan of anybody at our club.

Sounds like like someone else at Arsenal. :rubchin:

Edit:

If Wenger "did well to get rid of him" then why did he spunk £11m on him in the first place, only to see him walk out of the door for fuck all?

Not forgetting giving him £100k p/w.

Ok, gobshites; allow me to explain it one more fucking time.

Podolski is a top top quality striker. The best most clinical finisher we have (had) at the club. He is a CENTRAL STRIKER. That is his best position. He has said this himself. Our halfwit of a manager played said top finishing central striker as a WINGER (on the few occasions he actually played him) or left him to rot on the bench.

Now, do either of you see a problem with this? :rubchin:

As a striker, remember that bit do we? Good. As a striker Pod, like ALL strikers, feeds on confidence and getting a run in the side. Fairly hard to do that when you are benched or constantly played out wide in a position you are not equipped to play effectively. The fact that Pod scored so many goals from so few games, so many sub appearances, played so often out of position and in a system that never played to his strengths is testament to how good he is and an indication of how good he could have been for us if we had a decent tactically astute manager that knew how to set up to get the best from his players, rather than wedge them into a shit system dictated by his ego.

LaughingGooner; I've highlighted the words "complete lack of tactical nous" as it's hilarious irony you writing those words on here in relation to a player, when your every other post is basically you defending Wenger, a man with absolutely ZERO tactical nous! You don't do irony do you?   You are either a WUM or a sheep-like moron. I'm still not sure either way.

Is it possible to be a wum AND a sheep-like moron? Or is that like, illegal or incest or something horrendous?

To back up DB10's point on Podolski you wouldn't expect a centre half to play well on the wing coming off the bench once every few weeks so why would you expect an out and out striker to do much better?

Podolski may not have been the most astute in his criticism of his treatment by Wenger over the years and just maybe he should have tried to keep his mouth and social media content slightly less critical but in all honesty how many of us would of been able to take the treatment he received from the manager and kept our mouths shut.

Good luck to Pod i hope he manages to be a success in Milan and wherever he goes after (except if he comes up against us)

I asked the question a couple if days ago whether this forum thinks Podolski was a wenger signing, or whether he was bought by the Board, in the same way that Jeffers and R. Wright were a few years back.

It would certainly explain wenger playing him out of position (when he played him) and treating him the way he did.

What a waste of a very talented player...who is a lazy git, but wasn't expected to be anything else than a striker, and is still a top-class striker.

George Graham has re-iterated The Forum's wish for a new centre-back and defensive midfielder.

I can see why you have chosen your online name - You really are sooo funny - sad too - But hey ho hum.

Let me ask you, "Do you think Wenger is a good a tactician as Koeman?" - forget all the other stuff - just answer that.
