In all honesty I hadn't thought of it - him like that before and me thinks you just may have something - and as someone else rightly said - Our defence was at its best when Martin Keown was coaching them, that was a good year defensively - well at least it was once Keown got involved. I wonder why Wenker won't bring him back ?northbank123 wrote:Campbell probably think the club has a huge debt to repay to him. Quartz I will say it - fuck Steve Bould. The man has sat there like a fucking muppet on the bench for two and a half years. I don't doubt that he would like more time with certain aspects of coaching but it's fuckig laughable the extent to which he is sheltered from criticism by some on here. Like he's some kind of martyr and not just some bloke trousering a million a year in exchanging for keeping his mouth shut.
And let's not forget that he has spent his entire 14-year coaching career under Wenger, he'd probably put some of the most ardent AKBs to shame. About time he started being viewed as part of the problem not the solution.

Maybe he questioned Wenger and refused to be a muppet and we know Wenger doesn't like No Man.OneBardGooner wrote:In all honesty I hadn't thought of it - him like that before and me thinks you just may have something - and as someone else rightly said - Our defence was at its best when Martin Keown was coaching them, that was a good year defensively - well at least it was once Keown got involved. As for Sol playing the ‘victim’ I wouldn’t go that far, he is more intelligent than your average player – which is easy to deduce by his interviews – and perhaps why he doesn’t fit the cosy, don’t rock the boat style of punditry that exists on TV and Radio these days….I am hoping TH14 will shake the fuckers up….Talking of whom, I am looking forward to how he handles criticising wenger when Arsenal fuck up- which of course they will do – all because of Clueless and his inability to adapt, change and employ tactics, plan B etc
Sad but true.
It would seem you're right SG...Sad..Indeed Sad but Oh! So true

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry says Gunners fans who have protested against Arsene Wenger are "out of order". (Times - subscription required)

A lot of the ex players who are supporting Wenger like Henry etc were there in good times Maybe , and it would be hard to take , criticism by Fabregas or Van Persie would be more appropriate as they witnessed or more accurately lived the slide to mediocrity . Unlikely to happen I know , but if either of them were to say "I left because I knew under Wenger the club was going backwards" it would carry more weight. The older ones may feel the loyalty to Wenger is more important than telling it like it should be.

The Henry story is headline news but he actually said he disliked the nature of the Stoke protest, he did not chide the fans for criticising.
“You can be upset, I totally understand that, but when I saw what had happened at Stoke it was totally unnecessary. Fans do have a voice but that was out of order. But in the game we have at the moment, that, unfortunately, is the way it is.”

Quartzy!
Actually that could prove to be a very interesting dynamic, in that if TH does do his job (as a pundit) properly - He will need to criticise Wenger/Arsenal team etc at some point, I hope he is able to do it in a manner that is constructive, BUt also gets the point across - I wonder what Wenger's - reaction will be like if TH does (constructively) criticise and highlight all the flaws and failings - those things we have alll beeen banging on for quite a few seasons now..because has Wenger certainly always acclaimed TH as a player, his knowledge etc of the game...so it may prove 'interesting'.

This is the major issue I have with Henry. In 8 years at the club, he either won a trophy or reached a cup final every year with the club, yet when he started to see we were on the slide, he fucked off to Barca, and yet this same guy is telling fans that they should be happy with 4th place every year. He is a massive hypocrite, end of.Bradywasking wrote:A lot of the ex players who are supporting Wenger like Henry etc were there in good times Maybe , and it would be hard to take , criticism by Fabregas or Van Persie would be more appropriate as they witnessed or more accurately lived the slide to mediocrity . Baked bean head is gone at the end of the season mon ami and I am going to create the mother of all t1tty threads to celebrate. Le Fraud has made this injury prone, sick note, no mark into a multi millionaire and finally getting shot of him will make my summer.SteveO 35 wrote: I presume you'll be happy for Abou to stay on though mate?

Fuck me - how many more people can we get discussing the Stoke Three ? The three yoofs and their mobile phone must be chuckling away in a Weatherspoons somewhere bigging up their day in the sun and basking in the glory of somehow managing to become a national story.....and now that ex-professional footballers are talking about it. Its so pathetic, there are no words....QuartzGooner wrote:OneBard

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
wenger made those 2004 guys millionaires - and they don't have to pay a fortune to watch utter crap and suck up the excuses every week, so their views are uninformed and irrelevant. they are still Legends though on the pitch.Bradywasking wrote:A lot of the ex players who are supporting Wenger like Henry etc were there in good times Maybe , and it would be hard to take , criticism by Fabregas or Van Persie would be more appropriate as they witnessed or more accurately lived the slide to mediocrity .

bottom line, wenger stopped being a football manager around 2006.
now he is a corporate manager - his aim is not to win games or trophies, develop young talent or play nice football, its only to make sure the corporation makes a profit through sponsorship, shirt sales and advertising. the football is just a side hobby.
Arsenal are just as bad as united, city or the chavs - a chav mate of mine was outraged to see last week in the chelsea Club Shop (at the spuds game) Chelsea & Spuds half n half scarves being sold

these ex-pros know which side their bread is buttered - merse was caught up in a moment of honesty, for which i'm sure the corporation has sanctioned him in some way (wonga as corporate manager, already pointed out in public that he sold him...). words from fabregas and RVP will be spun by the PLC as sour grapes.
the only thing that will change is when the paying customers stop shopping at the corporation, then the corporation might bother to find out why.

The fans abused Wenger for the same reason Henry left the club.

very easy for henry to critisise the abuse after watching us dispatch of stoke 3-0. had he spent the money our away fans did to see what happened at the britania, then maybe his opinion would matter.
