The book is a brilliant read. The description of the battle on the side of the mountain as the SEALs fight against overwhelming odds is fantastic.
Is the movie any good?
Watched this on the plane the other day. I'm not usually a fan of the American war films (all whooping, hollering, blowing up Ay-rabs, look at how awesome the U-S-A is etc etc) but this was a great film.

The best 5 minutes of Robin Williams & "Guest" ...Ever!.
Funny but also incredibly moving and sad.

Watched both of them with my kids and that little girl is the funniest thing in two very funny films.

Finally got round to watching "Gravity" on SlyMovies On Demand. Sorry I didn't bother to go see it in 3D in the cinema.
It wasn't bad. Special FX were very good. Can't stomach Sandra Bollocks and George "I've done it up Matt Damon" Clooney but the Director seems to have at least tried to rein them in. Bollocks was bearable for most of it but Clooney played his usual "warm guy with a sense of humour and a cheesey grin" character.
Gravity was good-ish, but ultimately, they could have made this film brilliant if they had cast two non-big name, non-pretty actors that could, you know, actually act.

Just watched Mississippi Burning for the god knows how many time...one of my all time favourite films. Tragic story.

But Brilliant film though! Gene Hackman seemed to have this knack of just being on screen - without acting - and yet he always captured the essence of a character/role....
ps: Always thought they should have used Nina Simone singing Strange Fruit in the film - would have fitted perfectly...

Horrific and yet so amazing.

American Hustle.
WTF?
Oscar nominations??!!
WTF??!!
What a stinking pile of hammy, over-acted, over-played, over-written shite that was. Paper thin characters that I gave absolutely zero shits about, cliched direction and format.
The director and writer must have sat down and had a big old wánk watching Goodfellas one night and said "hey let's make something like that" but forgot to employ a decent writer, director or actors! I'm sorry, but whoever told Bradley Cooper he could do "serious" fucking lied right up into his face. Even the often excellent Christian Bale was all ham.
Terrible terrible little movie.

I liked it, not as good as i thought it would be, was expecting more violence - but Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence were fit as fuck

Yeah I thought it was shite too DB10. Although I was pretty sceptical with all the Oscar nominations, hated Argo and unimpressed by 12 Years a Slave.
