THE PROJOE TOTALLY POINTLESS TRANSFER RUMOUR THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Mexes, in my opinion at least, is a good defender but again he is more like your jageilka type defender rather than your towering mertesacker/hangeland type of centre half and imo not what we are looking for

Yeh, caughtoffside seem to claim we are on the brink of buying a player every day, but I'd thought id put it out there for a laugh anyway. I guess they figure that if they link us with every single CB in Europe they are likely to get one right eventually. Especially french ones.

Seriously though, we really need a big , tough CB, and by big I mean taller than 6ft1! We already have TV and Kos, both seem to be clever, skillful CB's, and although Djourou is tall, he's not exactly tough and not great in the air. Plus, he could be dead next week with his track record for injuries.

The thing is I'm not sure its that hard. All of us on here could identify a defender that we need or a goalkeeper. So whats Wenger doing?

Szwarzer wasn't long term, but i'ld have had more faith with him in goal then either of the two clowns. I mean Mannone is better than those two ffs. Just go out and pay the fucking money. Its not even yours, its ours!

You haven't missed much. Looked out for him since we were first linked 3 or 4 years ago and no way is this guy big enough or good enough for Arsenal.

I'll give it a go with my shit Italian translation skills:

Philippe Mexes è di nuovo nei desideri dell'Arsenal.

Phillippe Mexes is again desired by Arsenal.

According to the English papers (?), having lost Gallas, Silvestre and Campbell, the Gunners are on a search (?) for a central defender and the choice of Arsene Wenger, would seem to be the French 28 year old defender of Roma, whose evaluation would have be around 11 million Euros.

Mexes, dal canto suo, dopo sei anni nella capitale, sarebbe attratto da un'esperienza all'estero, in Spagna o Inghilterra, e l'offerta dei Gunners potrebbe convincerlo a fare le valigie.

Mexes, after six years in the capital, would find an experience abroad attractive, either in Spain or England, and the offer of the Gunners could convince him to pack his bags.

Well something like that!!! 8)
